It's so close I guess I should check it out, but their website is a little off-putting if you ask me

Let us know if you do tkd. It's over an hour from me, but I have family up that way. Agree about their website. I want a picture of the different beers at least

They are about 10 minutes from my house and I have been there a couple of times since they opened. I really like the Rye and the IPA is a good go to. I found their other offerings to be solid across the board, except I have not had the Winter Ale or Brown ale yet.

The facility is beautiful. Big space with a cool upstairs loft area to hang out.

Really solid line-up of beers across the board. You can tell their head brewer had plenty of professional brewing experience . The session IPA is top notch. The mouthfeel on the higher gravity stuff is dialed in too, which for me, is a mark that you know what you're doing. The space is quite large and well designed. I'm looking forward to their barrel aged offerings (wine and bourbon barrel).

I think their beers are pretty solid across the board, except maybe the Rye (which is smokey and too sweet for me... definitely a personal preference, there isn't anything technically wrong with the beer). The pilsner and imperial stout are the standouts IMO, and the IPA and session IPA are nice.

Curious to see how they expand the portfolio, and how their sour program comes along.

    In what way?

Swung by last night. The new pale, Sea Wheat(?), was really solid. Cool space. Really friendly staff.

I'll be back for another go.

What are their prices like for growlers?

I popped in here Sunday as well for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Good variety of beers and the ones I tried were all solid. Nothing outstanding, but nothing poor either. If I'm ever in the area, I would go back.

I don't recall exactly, but they seemed reasonable. Maybe $6/11 for a half/whole fill? I think there is some variation, but that feels right for ballpark.

Outside of it being a very generic site template and giving me transit PTSD from that picture of the tolls, how so?

It actually looks very good inside. I was impressed. They're going for a kind of stark, working man/factory theme but I found it comfortable. I thought they did an excellent job designing it given what they have to work with; it is, after all, just a commercial production space.

And I thought the beers were great. In my opinion the Pilsner rocks, and I've always said that if you can do that right, you can do any larger or more hoppy beer right; and with that said I'd highly suggest picking up a few bottles of their barrel aged stuff - it's interesting to taste the regular beers at the bar, and then taste the barrel aged versions later on when you get home.

I swung by this spot a few months back and really, if any brewery could live up to the title of 'textbook definition', it'd be these guys. Their beers weren't bad, mind you, but essentially every single one was just a beer that was brewed to style, with not one thing in particular standing out at all. Great for the average consumer or someone new getting into craft, but really, really boring for the craft veteran.

I would think if they're nailing "textbook definition" of styles that would be very exciting for a craft veteran given all the extract and overwhelming flavor bombs that many new breweries pass off as exciting or innovative when, in truth, they're insipid creations.

If you nail true-to-style, you have a fantastic base to play with later.

Adding stuff to a good beer is always better than adding it to a below average beer.

Yeah, to me you turned what should be a major compliment into a veiled insult. How many breweries make lagers/pilsners/brown ales and do them well? Too much focus on the IPA right now cause that is trendy.

Not really an insult, just my opinion. Nothing was memorable to be, just very standard, textbook definition representations of each style of beer. Not very exciting when you have Spellbound doing what they're doing not too far up the highway.

Last time I was at my local beer shop I bought some Spellbound IPA cans and some Double Nickel Lager cans. Two totally different kinds of beer, both very local to me.

Was very happy (excited) to have both options available!

Reviving an old thread here. I have been seeing Double Nickel cans and bottles in my local store regularly. I gotta say, I'm becoming a fan. The pilsner and the Vienna lager were both very good. Also had a couple of IPA's Woosh and Autopilot. They both very good. Better than most of the stuff Magnify and Brix City put out.
I'm definitely looking forward to trying more of their stuff.

Biggest issue I have is when I’ve seen cans near me they aren’t refrigerated, so I’ve steered clear of their IPAs.
