They did a "Pop-up Tap Room" (aka tap takeover) at a local bar/restaurant a week or so ago. Then I drove up to Decorah on Friday and hit the PR tap room while I was there.

They are cranking out some seriously good beer. They have a DIPA call Loopy Lynn that is stellar. I brought home two growlers of that. At the pop up tap room I got to try "For the Love of Almonds" which is a nitro stout. That stuff is amazing. If you get a chance to try it, take it.

I'm really looking forward to trying more of their beers. I've been to Decorah a number of times since they opened and never got the chance to swing by, but their taproom is going to be a regular stop for me now.

Just did a road trip through Des Moines, St. Louis, and Decorah. Pulpit rock was the best brewery on the trip beating out 515, 4 hands, perennial, side project, and toppling Goliath. Loopy Lynn is crazy good. They had 3 excellent to amazing pale ales and IPAs on when we were there last week, as well as a stellar porter.

Yeah, I was the driver when I went there last friday, so only had a LL, but everything I had at the pop up tap room was very good to unbelievable. Not surprised with your experience. They'd be getting some serious recognition if they had a wider footprint...

I loved For the Love of Almonds but hated that it was on nitro. I dislike nitro beers generally, but I feel this would've been even better if not on Nitro.

I thought the nitro was key. It made the head dense and frothy....like a cross between crema and mocha frosting plus it gave it a great mouth feel. Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing.

Wider footprint you say? Well I know a production facility down in Florida...

If you hate nitro, you have to try PR's nitro beers. I'm not sure what it is about the way they add it, but it builds so much texture and mouthfeel to their beers. They did a vanilla stout called Pudgy a few weeks back, put it on nitro and it was incredible. For the Joy of Almonds was probably my favorite beers from last year.

Saftig is one of my favorite beers period as well. They're doing an excellent job and have made Decorah a true beer destination. Not only is there all the goodness at TG, but the new kid can play ball as well.

Whippy DIPA was the one that did it for me. I went from, "they're doing a really nice job," to "holy shit." Now, everything they put out seems to be pretty incredible.

Whippy was an amazing beer as well. Wouldn't expect anything less from a PR/Alluvial collab. 2 of Iowa's best breweries.

I have not had anything from Alluvial yet. They had a guest tap at PR last friday (I think it was a porter or something). I didn't have it, but one of our group did and was kinda "meh" about it. I've been hearing good things about Alluvial though...

There was a darker guest tap recently. I didn't try it, but I've had stellar beer on every visit to Alluvial.

Stopped in at Need last night for a Loopy Lynn. They're definitely a huge competitor for TG, that beer was amazing.

Damn, now I'm so pissed I didn't stop in there on my last trip to TG. Looking forward to checking this place out!

Pulpit had our Creature from the Brown Legume on our Peanut Butter Brown on at taproom.
They are doing fun stuff. We have future collabs planned so stay tuned.

    Cheers!

Love your guys's work. We should probably start an Alluvial thread. The maple Aurox stood right up to Mornin' Delight, IMO.

Is the only way to bring some of this home in a growler?

Actually can't bring any back. No growler fills of Loopy or Pudgy when I was there yesterday.
