Hi all. My brother and I will be in Philly next weekend. Because of other commitments we'll probably only have time to check out one brewery. Any suggestions as to best bang for the buck? Victory? Yards? Thanks for the input!!!
What they both said. Hit the Ferm and Cafe for a different mix of brews. It's only a 5 min walk between the two.
It depends where you'll be staying and how much time you'll have. Victory is well outside Philly, probably an hour. Tired Hands is closer, but still outside the city. If you're close to 2nd Story, they are decent, but a bunch of new breweries have opened up recently, all over the city, and I haven't had a chance to visit any of them. Also some right across the river in Jersey. As mentioned above, if you have the time, Tired Hands would be your best bet.
If you have to stay in or close to the city, I've heard Crime & Punishment is a good one, but I've never been so I can't speak personally to it.
Big fan of Yards. Their ESA might be my fav beer. Haven't check out tired hands, but I hear they are awesome.
I second Forest & Main if you want a great atmosphere and a variety of styles. Yards if you want to stay in Philly proper as they have a wider variety of styles. You know, that's if you want more than saisons and hoppy beers.
i'd skip the drive/train ride to tired hands and just do a pub crawl around philly. there are several cool bars with above average tap lists. this would give you a chance to try multiple breweries, visit multiple places, and spend time exploring a city vs. sitting in traffic going to one place (which i believe is severely over hyped).
Tired hands by far you can stop at any bottle shop in philly and get victory and yards brews but you cant say the same about Tired hands.
Not so much "any bottle shop" but you don't have to go to Tired Hands to get Tired Hands. http://www.tiredhands.com/findourbeer/
True, but both of those do also have brewery-only beers if you visit: http://www.victorybeer.com/brewpubs/downingtown/ http://yardsbrewing.com/visit/whats-on-tap
