Looks like I'll be in Manitowoc for work, are there any decent places to try some local stuff on tap during my downtime? I've searched on here and noticed The Courthouse for food/brew and Superior Liquor for a bottle shop, just wondering if there are any other places worth visiting.
What are you going to be doing in my hometown ? Courthouse has decent food. Brews I am not sure, when they opened they were doing extract brewing but that may have changed. Being an old fart I do not go to taverns much at all. Ryan's on York has the best burgers I have had in my 40+ years here. Wiscotech Bar & Grille is worth a shot as well. Superior is good, it is my local go to for good beers and they have been happy to put aside special releases for me. The people are wonderful. Three Sheeps in Sheboygan does some decent brews and just opened a taproom within the last year. Woodman's Markets-closest are Green Bay and Appleton-have humongous liquor departments. Each is larger than Superior.
About a block away from Superior is Festival Foods, which has a fairly decent selection. Kurtz's Pub & Deli in Two Rivers has a few German beers and yard glasses.
Haha, I knew I'd get a post like this I haven't watched the show but I've been hearing about it from my co-workers the past few days.
I'll be doing some work at the local hospital. That's some interesting info about Courthouse beer, I'll keep my expectations lower. Sounds like I will be on the lookout for Ryan's on York. How is Superior with singles, is it a limited selection or can you break apart existing 4/6 packs? Thanks, any seasonal, local bottles I should keep eye out for right now?
http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/index.cfm/beers/ourbeers http://www.3sheepsbrewing.com/ these are worth looking at-New Glarus is only Wisconsin, Three Sheeps is Wisconsin, N. Illinois & Minneapolis. My favorite is http://www.centralwaters.com/ which is 2 hrs away and limited hours-legendary barrel aged seasonals Superior has limited singles but may break I have never asked. Do you have particular styles you like ? How long are you going to be in the area ?
I gravitate mostly towards IPAs, stouts, barleywines and lagers. I'll try everything in between with the exception being sours. I'll be flying out tomorrow and will be staying through the end of the week.
Capone's had a few good things on tap when I was there. Ahnapee, in Algoma a little less than an hour might be worth the trek.
