Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! I crashed my mountain bike yesterday after getting it back from the shop on Friday, so I am out of a bike yet again until next weekend. I am definitely going to be riding all of Mohican when I go back to Ohio on 4th of July weekend to make up for my stress of the situation. Beer this morning:

Glad these are back in MI. Just as fantastic as I remember. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with honey/biscuit/light caramel malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium pine/rind bitterness; balanced sticky/resins and light creaminess in the mouthfeel. Moderate dryness, highly drinkable, zero hop astringency. Will definitely be buying this a lot more now with bottle dating clearly legible. Love it!

Finishing off the other Aventinus I received from Bock day. World class as usual. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, raisin, plum, banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, toffee, toasted biscuit, and light nutty malt. Medium-high carbonation with an incredible creamy mouthfeel; with some dryness from the carbonation. Truly amazing every single time.

Fantastic batch this year, maybe even better than last years. Flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, and light dark fruit. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with a really great balance of the coffee/cocoa, malt, and barrel flavors; along with roasted coffee bitterness/sweetness after the finish. Medium-full bodied with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. This is like a poor mans KBS, but is just as satisfying. Glad I still have plenty more.

Amazing Gose! Flavors of big tart lemon, lime, green apple, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, peach, mango, hay, straw, musty funk, white bread, brine, and light white vinegar. Nice moderately tart finish; with balanced acidity, salinity, and light grainy wheat notes in the mouthfeel. Crisp and moderately dry finish. This isn’t quite as sour as I recall the original Westbrook contracted batch I reviewed; but this one is more drinkable and refreshing; and still has a nice amount of acidity going on.

    Cheers

Appearance: Hazy light gold, moderate cap and lacing.

Aroma: Conifer and citrus, little malt apparent.

Taste: I get conifer hops followed by citrus hops. Malt with an underlying touch of sweetness. Not bad, but hop forward is an understatement. Finish is bitter as is the aftertaste, which lingers longer than I would wish.

Texture: Reasonably full for the style.

Overall: For me it's almost a disjointed mix of heavy hops moderated by sweetness. I paid for this with my own money which gives me the right to say I don't particularly like it. I'll drink it, two even, but it's unlikely I'll buy more.

I have to say that I'm very impressed by the Greek craft beer scene so far (and I haven't even tried some of their most recommended offerings yet). This here is an absolutely amazing IPA. If it was available in the US it would be all the rage.
Its name is Voreia IPA. Made by the Siris microbrewery in the northern town of Serres (Voreia means "Northern"), this is a kickass IPA that ticks all the boxes. Lovely hazy copper color, a sweetish hoppy aroma and an amazing flavor and mouthfeel combo. This is my next go-to beer while in Greece. Love the label too.

Another Greek gem (albeit with some Belgian help): Notias Saffron Blonde. A Belgian ale made with Greek saffron (Notias translates to "The Southerly Wind" in Greek). It has a very prominent saffron aroma and flavor, which take a few sips to get used to. A very unique beer.

Wishing all BA-fathers (and those contributing to the reason for the celebration)....a most fantastic day

My youngest (18 year old daughter) sets her alarm for 5:00 AM to make coffee (good excuse to slide you some new Rival Sons)

and 6:00 AM to make bacon for pops...special and kind gestures to be sure

sippin on some juice to accompany me as I soak up the beauty of fatherhood (especially with said daughter leaving for camp for July and then college in August)

appreciating all fathers who love, provide and are present---the connections and reciprocity makes it all worthwhile and, if you had poor fatherly role modeling as did I, it deepens the value of breaking the cycle and doing it right

Live well and drink better BA's...Cheers to you all!

Good Sunday morning BAs. Another beautiful morning here and another hot day coming. Work done--cleaned the grill, did the laundry. Sitting on the deck and starting the festivities with a Dark Horse BourbRum Plead the 5th. The rum barrel flavor has come forward over the months (in this bottle, at least).

For those to whom it applies, have a good Father's Day. I'm not a Dad but at times can be a real Mother. :stuck_out_tongue:
