The next beer I'm brewing will be with Chinook, and Cascade hops. I am trying to find a way to capture that great pine flavor and aroma out of the hops without going crazy overboard on the IBU.

I know a lot of IPA's have been going as high as they can with IBU but I feel it will be refreshing if I an dial it down some and focus on the flavors.

What do you recommend for a good hop schedule that will give me all of that pine I'm looking for without raising my IBU to high?

I am using 2oz total of Chinook and .5oz Cascade.

    Thank you for your help

    Cheers!

The later you add your hops, the more flavor/aroma will be retained, and the less IBUs you'll get.

That I know but I was wondering what everyone else does. Not sure if I want to do late additions all of my hops or split the 2oz up into an early addition and a late.

Do a mix. And do a hop stand with a ton of Chinook if you want the pine flavor, along with a hefty dry hop. That will help.

With only 2.5oz of hops, I hope you are only doing like a 1-gallon batch? Otherwise, you may not get that much flavor.
