I will be in the Seattle, WA for a month or so and will be making periodic trips up to Vancouver for some sight-seeing. I am obivously looking to get some good brew and food while I am up there and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (besides Elysian). Any kind of gastro-pub that serves cask ale would be a plus. I dont really have too much of a preference (anything from a good pale ale or cask mild up to a RIS or barley wine). Thanks in advance!

If you're traveling from Seattle to Vancouver BC (not Vancouver, WA), then I highly recommend stopping in Bellingham, which is on the way up north (90 miles north of Seattle). Boundary Bay Brewery in Bellingham is the largest independent brew pub in the US, and aside from some amazing beers you'll find great bistro pub food there. Cheers!

There's an app for that to help you get started. Search in the play store if you have an android Washington Beer App. It has a handy little map feature that will guide you to wherever you want to go.
Forget Elysian. They're on many people's shit list since they sold out to the big guys. Fremont, Holy Mountain, Stoup, Reuben's are a few breweries to get you started. Enjoy your visit.

I guess I should have mentioned that I was going to Vancouver, BC; not Vancouver, WA. hah. I will definitely take note of Boundary Bay Brewery and stop by there. Is it anywhere near Anacortes? I went there a while back and loved the area. Anyways, thanks for the info. Cheers!

Anacortes is about 20 minutes off I-5, and is the home of Anacortes Brewing/Rockfish Grill, of which, I'm a big fan. Bellingham is about another half-hour north from the Anacortes exit. We've got 9 breweries here in town, and, if you have the time, I'd suggest at least an overnight visit. In addition to Boundary Bay, Wander Brewing is a must visit. Also very much worth your time are Structures, Kulshan, Chuckanut, and Aslan. Shoot me a message as you get near your visit, and I'd be happy to show around my town.

The I-5 corridor from Seattle to Vancouver BC (actually, the entirety of I-5 in Washington) has lots of breweries close at hand. I strongly suggest a stop at Skookum in Arlington on your way north.

I will definitely make it a point to try out all of your suggestions while I am up there. I loved Anacortes and Whistle Lake was great. I will be up there for a little over a month so I will have a decent amount of time to do some exploring. I will be sure to PM you once my trips gets a little closer to see about any festivals going on. I really appreciate the info.

Once you're up in BC make sure you visit Four Winds in Delta.

Not much in the way of festivals over the summer.

If you're after cask ale make sure to check out Machine House in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle. They do mostly English style beer and serve everything on cask. They're open Wed-Sun.

Other places that have at least one beer engine: Flying Bike, The Jolly Roger Taproom, Big Time Brewing.

I would strongly recommend Brass neck up in Vancouver too. As far as fests go, there's pretty much one every weekend. Bremerton is coming up soon, Everett is early August (IIRC), SIB is around 4th of July, and there are smaller ones all over the place. Maybe they're not for a walez-hunter, but they're great for trying a lot of regional breweries.
