Anyone else pick up a 6 pack of two hearted with no bottle date on the back label? If I'm not mistaken, they started adding bottle dates in 2011 or 2012? Did that change, did they just use up their old labels on us? Cant imagine its really that old (just leaving store, have not tried it yet).

What else did they have, and where did you get it? I've got some Expedition, Kalamazoo, and 30th anniv. stouts, and the dates are all on the bottom of the back label. I really doubt they dumped old stock on us-the date printer probably just had a brain fart.

    What else was there?

They had everything they shipped (Mr Bs). Only other thing I bought was a 12 pack of oberon cans (heading to MI tomorrow so figured I'd leave the expedition and third coast for those who wont have the opportunity to buy anytime soon). Have not checked the cans yet. I really cant imagine the two hearted is that old, but thought id ask if all they shipped were dateless.

Would be nice to see Bell's in GJ, they make some pretty fine tasty brew's, from what I remember.

    Cheers!

Is it hitting the shelves or hitting the gotta ask for it screen?

Good point. Needs clarification. Definitely not on the shelves. Gotta ask.

Just curious, and by no means am I criticising. But what is the objective in not putting something on the shelf and making people ask for it?

Is this a 'one time' shipment (a la GABF week) or is CO now on bells distro?

If stores just put allocated stuff on the shelf, then one guy is going to come in and buy everything himself, and the majority of beer lovers are going to get shut out.
That didn't really need explanation, did it?

You couldn't possibly have the limit pop up when the cashier rings it up and save us all the finding someone to ask for it dance we do now right? Doesn't Argonaut do it this way?

Yes, Argonaut does this. However, it's such a large store that it doesn't keep anyone from buying the allocated limit, throwing it in their car and walking back in multiple times if they choose to do so.

Is it that hard to go to the beer cooler and ask for allocated products? We'd be keeping the stuff in a cooler door anyway.
I mean, during the first hour of the release, there is literally someone standing there the whole time, waiting to help.
Then, after that, every single person in the store has a radio and can call a beer guy to help, which should never take more than a few minutes.

To Jake's comment, that stuff happens all the time... but, if the beer guys are the only ones dealing with the release, then they can spot the folks who try to come right back in and try to buy more of the same item.

Really, this system makes sure that allocated beer gets into the most people's hands, and is definitely the most fair. So... the ones who gripe about it the most are maybe the ones who would be clearing an entire shelf of Monkees for themselves to horde if we just did just put it up there in the first place, right? Just a thought.

I have no issue with the "ask" policy, but it should be clarified somewhere that it's an option.
At most places, if I don't see what I want I'll just bail. Especially if I don't see any employees or some indication that there might be a secret stash. The higher profile places (like Davidson's, Lukas, etc.) tend to have roaming employees in the beer areas, but not everyone does. Plus, everyone has limited staffing. If the beer folks are busy you have to go to the front and ask someone who will assuredly have no idea what you're actually asking for.
In a perfect world, if there are non-shelf beers available I'd like to see a sign or some kind of way to alert an employee.

...or there's always the idea of having "Limit 1" stickers that are bright pink for special beers. If someone is willing to peel that off or try to hustle the register out of more, they're probably not above flat-out stealing too.

This. Or don't complain when hundreds of people keep asking, "do you have [rare beer name here]?"

Some stores don't have the shelf space for a new set of one-offs.

I can't speak for other stores, but maybe my comments are being interpreted as that. Our limited releases go out on Facebook at 4pm, and Taphunter immediately following, and then our Taphunter account scrolls on the giant television back by the beer cooler doors, where you can almost always find a guy in a black shirt to help you out. I'll bow out of the discussion now so as not to keep repeating the same stuff.

And, no, we don't have any Yuengling.
