Some people just love to show how much smarter they are by being not being swayed with a marketing message. Complete BS.

Burn that book. If 50% goes into marketing, how much goes into product cost, how much goes into operations? Very few products can spend 50% of every retail dollar in marketing...almost none.

Seriously? It looks nothing like Blue Moon, Shock Top, Goose Island, etc. I think Modern Times is one of the best overall branded craft breweries out there- it's simple and elegant but with character and I think showcases some of that SoCal drive-down-the-palm-lined-boulevard-in-my-oldschool-Cadillac vibe. I really appreciate the marketers for identifying a brand that is clean and fits with the modern design trends prevalent for a while now without completely sterilizing their packaging like Maine Beer Co.

    Modern Time's doesn't have Blue Moon's I'm-a-turtleneck-wearing-unoriginal-middle-aged-suburbanite-who-doesn't-like-Sam-Adams, Shock Top's I'm-a-frat-boy-douche, or Goose Islands I-promise-I'm-still-cool-but-I'm-rebranding-slowly-as-a-high-end-sports-beer vibe.

I totally disagree with all of the ATG haters.
I believe they have some of the best artwork in the business!

LOL. It's the first label I think of every time this topic comes up.

I think that Southern Tier could use a revamp also. Especially their cans.

I rather like New Belgian labels which I can read without putting on glasses.

So to the totally unsuspecting purchaser they know that a half naked boxer or sperm with peoples faces on them represents that the beer is from New Hampshire or that it is a representation of the people brewing it or their home? A half naked boxer and sperm gives me sense of nothing other than a sense that I don't want to stare at the label.

Personally, I don't care that Surly gives me no personal sense of where it's brewed or who brewed it. The labels are just flat out cool and appealing to me. Honestly? Where it's brewed is totally not at the top of my list when it comes to labels. I want branding/labels to be appealing and attractive to my eye and easily tell me what type of beer is in the container and the brewery that brewed it. After the label attracts my attention and I pick it up, then I can read more about the beer if I want to.

Ask Troegs, they just spent a TON of money changing all their labels to make them more appealing. It's all marketing. Bottom line is if people are turned off by your labeling, they won't buy it most likely.

Sure, and we each have our individual tastes. For example, I don't think Surly's packaging looks cool, I think it's ugly, jumbled, busy, unorganized, and dull. Strokes for folks.

This is my first time seeing this one. It's, uh, umm, er, well, they are from Cow Hampshire, so who the hell knows what's going on up there.

I don't know. Modern Times makes some of my favorite labels. Really simple and classy. Plus they include all important info including gravity. When you take that much time to include all that info and make a label that is classy and simple and doesn't go over the top, I can get behind it.

Some of the best artwork for sure. If only their beer could match it.
