Finished my 11 mile run, and I always like a post-run beer so I'll dig into more Fat Tire and Friends. This is a nice one, I like the sour apple just a bit better although I rated them the same (4.04)
Lots of yard work, Euro 2016, and beer today. Gonna be a good Saturday.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I finally got my mountain bike back from the shop again yesterday, definitely going to go out trail riding again today. Got a new wheel after I crashed last week. Going to make a trip out west to the trails that are far away that I can't visit on the weekdays. Beers this morning:

Incredible as always. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted bready malt and herbal/floral/grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness; smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness. Has all the mosaic/ citra hop flavors I love and it is always available reliably fresh. A definite go-to IPA now.

Excellent IPA. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with cracker/bread/light honey malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citus peel bitterness; medium bodied with balanced hop stickiness and grainy creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-medium increasing dyness; zero lingering hop astringency. Really impressive all around, very juicy on hops without being too overly resinous; as Simcoe tends to be most of the time.

9/2013 vintage. Incredible as usual. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, molasses, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, tobacco, leather, and herbal/woody hops. Balancing herbal/spicy bitterness; full bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and a fair amount of hop stickiness. Light dryness from hop resins after the finish. A true classic American Barleywine, one of my favorites.

2/2012 Vintage. Mind blowing delicious. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter hints of tobacco, leather, and dark fruits due to age. Moderate roast/char and herbal bitterness; full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel with a fair amount of sticky/chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly drying from roast/hop stickiness. Even after 4 years there is still a good amount of bitterness lingering on the flavor. One of the absolute best classic tasting RIS of all time for me. Consistently impresses me just as much as the first time I tried it, every time I have it again. I really hope they decide to re-enter Michigan distro again; but if not, I always go to Ohio to visit family and get my Yeti 4 packs down there.

    Cheers

Appearance: Clean yellow color, white cap and good lacing.

Aroma: Citrus and yes, grapefruit. Nice hop punch. Some conifer in there as well.

Taste: Hop forward as the aroma implies. Substantial heft to it though, this is no lightweight in the flavor department. Hops carry all the way through playing the dominate role, yet they don't overwhelm. Clean finish retains hop flavors in the aftertaste.

Texture: Full, no doubt about it.

Overall: This is a good one. Aroma, flavor, finish, it all comes together.

Good morning BAs! Looks like another beautiful day here in NW PA - sunny, warm, light breeze - it's a beautiful summer so far. Today's breakfast beer is this:

Pretty decent - good flavor and good price point. After breakfast it'll be IPA time as I gimp around outside trying to be useful. This busted leg stuff sucks!

Drinking my last Sumatra Brown with Bernie Worrell on my mind. Saw him play a show to a small crowd in Maine in the 90s. You could see in his band's eyes, they were like, "what the hell are we even doing here?" Bernie, though, just plowed in, gave an awesome show, super long set, getting the band and everyone else totally into it. He was amazing.
