    Hi All,

Heading to Burlington Vermont next month on a Tuesday and coming home on a Saturday.
Last time I was up there the only thing I was focused on was heady topper and hill farmstead that I didn't realize how much good beer/breweries are in that area.

I am a big ipa and pale ale guy.

Any suggestions, on breweries to visit, beers to try, and places to go would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

I would certainly recommend a trip to Fiddlehead in Shelburne. Frost Beer Works in Hinesburg makes some very good Pale ales and IPAs. They are only open on Friday and Saturday, but you can find their beer in alot of stores. I'd also recommend Burlington Beer Company in Williston. I'd also recommend a trip to Pine Street in Burlington where Zero Gravity and Queen City Brewing are across the street from each other and Switchback is a couple blocks away. Foam Brewers on the water front is also picking up a bunch of hype lately. You really can't go wrong. I'd recommend searching on Vtbeer.org for the info your looking for and it has a ton of links to the breweries and social media sights for these places.

Burlington pretty well covered, so I'm here for the obligatory mention of Waterbury (Pro Pig, Reservoir, Blackback), Stowe (Doc Ponds and the Bench), and Morrisville (Lost Nation and Rock Art).

Also agree w Foam. Excellent. Another suggestion if you are crawling. Zero G at American flatbread. They get little recognition ....but I had this citra cask pale ale last weekend that blew my mind. I had two I liked it so much. Can't vouch for any of their other beers but this was an absolute home run.

It gets a mention once in a while but I liked the pizza at Blue Stone in Waterbury and the tap list includes Hill Farmstead, Lost Nation, Fiddlehead, Lawson's, etc.

If you are heading up I91 to I89, stop in White River Junction at River Roost. They have been makings some really good IPA/DIPA. New brewery, opened past February.
In the same parking lot is Big Fatty's BBQ which has an above average tap list usually including a few from Hill Farmstead. They have a small retail craft beer section and "Crowler Pit" that usually has a few nice options on tap.

Makes a good pit stop. Good beer, good food. Grab a coffee at Tucker Box on your way out and your all set for the last 1.25 hrs of your trip to Burlington.

Also, bring some NEBCO/OEC/Beer'd for us. Sharing is caring.

Seconds to Queen City and Fiddlehead (in South Burlington - near the Shelburne Museum).

I also can't recommend River Roost enough, you'll probably be heading through there on the way to Burlington or coming back from there. He's only open Wed-Sat from noon to about 6 or 8 depending on the day. I've yet to have a bad beer from him. All the hoppy stuff is incredible, he gives free samples and I can pretty much guarantee you'll be impressed. Also Mark is a cool guy to talk to about beer and brewing, the guy who fills your growler and serves you your samples is the brewer, one man show. I honestly can't believe I don't have to stand in line to get such amazing beer. When people figure out how great his beer is I'm pretty sure it'll be much harder to find.

Foam has the best local IPA's in Burlington! Highly recommend.

Based on some recommendations on this thread and another, I stopped at Foam on a quick drive through VT last week. Was really impressed with the tastes I had and ended up leaving with two - Pavement and Indie. Would be a great place to spend some time on another trip.

Well...he does put him mom and dad to work pouring samples and filling as well! But Mark, his parents and the beer are all great. I also hit Foam this past weekend and have to say I agree with others that it was excellent. Certainly worth checking out.

Stopped by Foam after the Festival Friday afternoon - highly recommend. Very impressed with all offerings, and the sours were up there for me. Yellow Dot was fantastic. Indie, Built to Spill, Pavement, Lupi Fresh, Glass Ceiling - all very good.

That place is going to explode.

Then went to Farmhouse to have all the special beers they had on tap for the festival weekend - and finished at Scuffer (I think that's what it's called?) for two pours of CBS and some poutine. Dear Lord..

Then drove home 250+ miles for a wedding in CT. And this was all after a stay in Waterbury Thursday night, after visiting The Alchemist and Hill Farmstead.

Outrageous weekend to say the least. Spoiled beyond spoiled.

Foam in Burlington is doing it right, not an option - must visit! The double IPA was on par with most HF IPAs and pretty close to Alchemist/ Lawson's.

A trip to Montpelier for Three Penny and/or Waterbury for Pig/ Reservoir/ Blackpack are worth the 30 or so minute drive too! All of these have all the great local stuff available.
