Rainy day. Wish they made earplugs for dogs--so mine hadn't freaked out at the fireworks and kept me up all night. Ugh.

From a recent trade:

 

Spent a good part of the the 4th at our favorite beach, started off with a COAST 32/50 Kölsch. Still the best kölsch that I've had, haven't had anything even close to it. Perfect beach beer, just wish I could get it here, w/o traveling back home to get it.


Got home and enjoyed another good one from Charleston. Only my 3rd beer from these guys, really like what they are doing. This was nice and tart, with a peach juice finish. Very well done!

I don't think Founders makes a bad beer!

 

Good Monday morning all, hope everyone had a glorious holiday weekend. Another "sour" this morning- 'Viejo Rojo', a Flanders style lambic ale from Tahoe Mountain Brewing Co., Truckee, CA.



Sour fruit, straw and wet horse blanket nose. Tart berries, funky barnyard yeast, red wine, cherries with a lite oak finish. Lite mouthfeel with slightly dry, wooden tongue coating ( but not too much). Wish it had a tad more carbonation, but worthy all around for the style. I like!

Just the way I want to start this humid Chicago day! This one is a refreshing treat, Ching Ching BA's!

 

Good morning all, something refreshing to start off this hot, muggy July day:



Appearance: Light hazy yellow with decent cap and lacing.

Aroma: Spicy hops, a bit earthy, also something citrus going on. Malt is present in a supporting role.

Taste: Fairly good example of low ABV (4.2) Session style with the primary flavor coming from the hops with malt serving as the launch platform. Hoppy finish, some bitter aftertaste.

Texture: Medium.

Overall: Calling it an IPA puts it in the Welterweight class but it drinks like a Lightweight.

Goose IPA. Not what i was expecting and actually hit me hard for some reason at only 5.9% not bad. I wouldn't call it an English IPA though but i can kind of see it. At only 5 weeks old ive never seen it so fresh, it was nice to give it a fair try and not a 6 month old version.


Yards Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale. An English Strong Ale inspired "golden ale" stated by Yards. The bottle says brewed with honey and rye. This beer was great, im happy i bought the six.
