If you're taking questions...may I ask what you'll be bringing to Digfest this weekend?

    SummerTeeth
    Rad Mobile (Belgian Amber-ish)
    Bodhi
    Simon (American style Stout)
cask of Bodhi wit some stuff in it
and then probably some IPA to backup Bodhi if/when it runs out.

Are we going to see it in bottles? Because that would be rad...

we plan on converting our old filler to do larger format bottles (16.9, 22oz, or 750....we don;t know yet). But that's not happening for a bit yet, me thinks.

Eh, the Steel Dawn lover in me says 750, but my wallet says that the 16.9 isn't going to get as much scorn from the wife.

Reviving this to say that the freshness issue has gotten... worse, I think. Maybe it's just my part of town but I've tried about five different stores and as of today (07/05/16) the freshest CBC IPA I've found is 06/06/2016. This is my staple beer and I personally think it tends to start turning after around 22 days. Have heard similar complaints from several others I know that like to keep this one in the fridge... just wanted to mention it for the record.

First of all, the new CBC labels are amazing... They just look so damn good on the shelf. One of my favorites, actually. Clean, bold and they look good.

The new Columbus IPA is fantastic! Summer Teeth was awesome, as well. I am really digging the changes/improvements. Can't wait for that Bodhi!

LOL. Exactly one month and it's a freshness problem? I just got a six pack with that date and it's amazing.

It's still good, I'm not bashing it (it's almost the only beer I buy any more). It just sucks that I used to be able to find 7-8 day old CBC IPA easily and now it would be an extremely rare occurrence to find any under 24-25 days. If you don't think there's a difference between a week and a month, you're in denial.

Right, I just started drinking three months ago. Not sure why the smart ass comment is necessary on an honest observation. I love CBC IPA and probably promote it more than just about anyone; I don't think there's anything blasphemous about pointing out that the bottles on shelves are becoming gradually older.

@tcorder219 this isn't a dig by any means, I buy this beer literally every week. Just pointing out what I (and several others I've talked to) have observed as a customer.

I remember finding a 2 day old case at Kroger last year. Crazy. Regarding the older dates, Tony provided an explanation on page 1.

Let's put away the spoiled kid syndrome. Bodhi bottles next week, and I'm guessing you can probably buy fresher IPA batches at the brewery.

No worries. I'm more curious as to where you're buying beer. And I did cover the increased inventory/freshness topic earlier. This is going to sound like a "complaint" but what's happening is literally the result of having success. CBC IPA sells very very well and that demand makes it important that our distributors do not run out of stock....so they can make sure that retail accounts do not run out of stock. So we respond to it, build a new brewery, make more beer so it can be more available. In order to do all that, everyone's "back up stash" needs to be bigger. ON TOP OF THAT, and because this is a business and not a soup kitchen, we want to make enough to allow for continued growth of the brand. Everyone's inventory has increased. I think in most places, the age of IPA has decreased over the last few weeks. We've noticed that as weather has gotten better and sales increase that gap is actually narrowing.

The only thing i take serious issue with is the fact that it's turning after 22 days. That's categorically not true. Unless it's being put in a microwave.
We're running lab tests of our own and also sending beer off to a large and very generous craft brewer to help run additional tests with their crazy equipment. So far, we've gotten great feedback. Sanitation and oxygen levels are solid.
From my personal experience, I haven't noticed a any drop off until about 60 days, with an expiration date of 90 days.

My smartass comment came from the remark about IPA turning after 22 days. Obviously we have different palates but that has not at all been my experience with CBC IPA (or with just about any IPA for that matter)

Ok Ryan, I'm the only one in the world that notices a difference in some IPAs after over three weeks. You got it, Lord Ohio.

This is around the west side of Columbus. Specifically Kroger and Turkey Hill locations around the area (Georgesville, West Broad, Hilliard-Rome). I have no idea how they store the beer pre-stocking but always buy refrigerated packs unless they're sold out and have to resort to standard shelves (which happens from time to time). It doesn't taste bad by any means at 22 days and is certainly not expired, but 22-25 days in when I personally feel that it is in some way changed. As in, I'm very confident that I could distinguish between a 7-day and a 24-day in a blind taste test. I've never had one old enough that I would consider "bad" by any means.

But that aside, that's not really what I was trying to bring up... as I feel like I can tell most IPAs apart in similar time frames. I was just getting at the fact that several months ago, I was usually finding sub-10 day packs. Then around the time this thread was created, the average in my area was about 18 days... however, I personally mentioned to several people that I thought that was perfectly fine as it was tasting better than ever (I think I even said that on page 1 of this thread). Since then, the average in my area has seemed to increase by around another 10 days. So that's pretty much all I was trying to point out.

Umm there's a big difference IMO between "notices a difference" and "turning". You used "turning". Yes, an IPA at 1-day old tastes different than 22-days old. We know that. Perhaps we just have different interpretations of the word "turning"

I've been drinking the 6/16 bottles for the past week or two and it has tasted great. I don't anticipate it falling off anytime soon.
