Well it had a good 10 year run. Maybe they want more flexibility for a double IPA, instead of a beer that uses a single hop variety that is proprietary? Maybe getting harder to source the hops?

Well that's unfortunate, I liked that one the most.

They could easily retire Last Chance, even though part of the profits go for a good cause. I like Weyerbacher, but their IPA's just aren't up to par anymore.

I hope retiring Double Simcoe will give them the space and flexibility to be more adventurous with their IPAs.

Dont worry, it'll probably still be on Wegmans shelves for another 2-3 years based on current inventory. ZING!

Those newer double IPAs have been really tasty. Maybe they're replacing it with one of those.

They've been releasing rotating batches of under the generic names of "IPA" and "Double IPA", maybe that is the plan moving forward.

Looking at their site, I didn't realize they had retired Old Heathen / Heresy.

I guess it makes sense to push Tiny as their main stout as Old Heathen was too much of an old school imperial stout in the market, being "only" 8% abv.

So sad. Double Simoe is the beer that hooked me into trading more than eight years ago & to me still might be the best Simcoe showcase IPA around. But it's been really hard to find decently fresh in MN the past couple of years, & my purchases have tailed off accordingly. It will be missed.

Pretty sure they did in NJ at least.

I wish I could say that was 100% true, but as recently as tonight... saw Double Simcoe AND Last Chance 5 minutes away from me.

Yeah- Bottle King has a bunch of Last Chance, and it seemed to have a new label.

IPA has evolved a lot in the past 10 years. When it came out it (Double Simcoe) was one of my go to DIPA's along with Hop Wallop and Ruination. Eventually you have to move on. People new to "craft" beer never understand my love for IPA's like Hop Devil and Two Hearted. I found a very fresh 4 pack of 90 minute and gave one to my friend who just got into beer and he thought it was "weak". RIP Double Simcoe :slight_frown:

Going to miss this beer. Used to buy it all the time. Dug up this picture from when they released foxtrot back in 08 or 09. Also loaded up on double Simcoe and others that day. :grinning:
