I see my earlier post about 99 Bottles having it was deleted, but according to their FB it sold out in an hour. I wonder how many of these places will be getting a second drop.

Rode my bike up there and didn't see any sort of line, but about five minutes after opening there were only two bottles left

Yeah went in less than half an hour

Was there a second shipment of Brew 1000? I'm guessing this is a similar bottle count/release.

Might have been as I was able to get 2 bottles of it several weeks after it was released. But it also wasn't shipped to Oregon and Idaho like Rusty will be.

Sweet Jayzuz! Fremont's created a monster (and we're all accomplices). Hopefully the demand will be a little more muted here (if It hasn't already come and gone).

Just myself and one other person prior to opening, but no joke, within a minute of opening there were enough people there to clear it out. On the plus side, I now have a bottle. That said, this prolly fits the definition of a pyrrhic victory.

I can't criticize, I waited 2 1/2 hours (10:30 until 1pm or so) in line at the brewery!

Yeah, I had stopped in earlier in the week, just to ask 'em when they thought they'd be getting Rusty. Told me Wednesday but no more specifics, so I figured, what the hell, I'll just stop by when they open and hope for the best. Honestly, I don't recall ever having had such a challenging time tracking down a local beer... Glad it's over... for now...

Still on tap for anyone interested. Good stuff, but no way is it in my opinion on such a different level than something like KDS that I'd wait two plus hours in line for it. Though to be fair, I can't think of anything I'd wait in a line like that for.

I agree with this in regards to this current batch, which doesn't taste much like b1 to me at all. I was out of town a while, but am hitting the draft now.

the batch variation certainly has something to do with it. i recall being "blown away" by b1, but i'd argue set and setting had more to do with that than the actual beer. winter + 12 oz pour + presumably stoned > drinking a 3oz pour at 3pm on a summer day.

Can confirm it is in Portland. Right place, right time for me. Saraveza is now sold out.

Well, might get a little flack for saying this, but I wouldn't buy another bottle at this point. In my personal humble opinion, not worth the increased fervor and/or hunting. It was really good, but as others are stating, not that much different from other BA Stouts/Porters.

Of course aging it a little will likely produce different results, but I'm gonna keep the $20+ and wait for something different.

Again, this is no slight towards Fremont at all. Fremont Dark Star and Abominable are just as good if not better. Sure, they are different beers and everyone will have a different opinion.

For many, I think it's getting to the point where "differentiation" is gonna start playing a major factor as what to purchase with barrel-aged beers. Me personally, I'm starting to focus on Rum, Brandy, Scotch, Rye, and other future barrel-aged options. Of course some of the heavy hitters will always get my business (Dark Star, BCBS, Parabola, Prairie, etc)

The whole vanilla, coffee, chocolate, chili peppers, etc variations taste very similar amongst the best breweries. How can they start differentiating themselves? Maybe they don't need to, especially when a release like Rusty Nails generates all this interest.

**Best Barrel-Aged Beer I've had in years continues to be the Brandy Barrel-Aged 'MILF' by Mother's Brewing. Simply incredible and can't stop thinking about it!**

Thanks for the heads up. Wasnt expecting this to hit till tomorrow. Ran right down to the local and bought a bottle. Was allowed to buy a bottle to share with the patrons as well. Thought it was really, really good, especially after it had some time to open up. I didn't find it to be quite as boozy as the kds and bbomb variants, which I appreciated. Good beer for sure.

North total wine sold out Monday (which is surprising as I didn't think it'd be in till midweek). Didn't check or call the valley one.

Huckleberrys was expecting some but didn't end up getting it.

Rocket market got one case, pretty sure it's all spoken for, don't think it even hit the shelf. I got my two from there.

Well, you sure went through those eggs fast. Or was it the gallon of milk you forgot?

Whichever, it's good to see you didn't disappear into the subterranean realm completely. This forum is a better place with you in it, even if you're only here because you finally found an ISP that was willing and able to set up a connection in your bunker...

From what I understand it will no longer becoming to Boise due to Crooked Fence also having a beer called The Rusty Nail, no idea on Northern Idaho. Guessing they won't care. I hope I'm wrong about Boise though.

I've been out of town, in the Rockies, for the past month, so I missed the Saturday craziness, and just caught up on this thread the past couple of days.

Fortunately, I got to the UBG today, and got to drink Rusty Nail there. For those who were bemoaning the FOMO/bottle madness, and suggesting that brewers should just release specialty beers on tap at the brewery, well that is in practice the situation right now. Bottles are virtually impossible to get, but it's easy to go to the UBG and drink your fill. No hype, no crowds. In fact, early this afternoon, my wife and I were the only ones there drinking Rusty Nail.

I'm left thinking that somehow the hype got ahead of the reality on this beer, which is pretty much always the case with hype. Don't get me wrong, I loved the beer, and it's definitely one of the best barrel aged stouts I've had. But it's not in a class by itself. It's at the head of its class, along with quite a few other excellent beers, some of which are much easier to obtain.

Now Brew1000, on the other hand, struck me as really in a class by itself. Maybe transcendent barleywines are harder to make than transcendent imperial stouts?
