Does anyone know if there was any left at Fremont as of this evening? I'm hoping to swing by early tomorrow for a pour.

I was there at 4 the afternoon and it was still available. What I did to have an idea of whether or not it was there or not was to check untappd check ins.

I was there a little after 8pm tonight and it was flowing freely. Pretty sure I was the only one drinking it as well.

hype or no hype, I expect this beer to be fantastic. in the NW, we are lucky to be in the middle of 15-20 breweries that are knocking out of the park with barrel aging beers.

brew 1000 was great. KDS, CKDS, BBOMB CCBBOMB are all great. Fremont doesn't miss.

if you think this will be a life changer, check your expectations. just another great beer in the catalog.

I was at Rocket Market yesterday and no one knew about it (must've been the beer guy's day off) . Pretty much out of fancy beer money til next week, anyway, so I'm probably gonna have to sit this one out if it's even still available.

No skull this time? Maybe that's the crucial difference between the two iterations.

According to @Texwild it's definitely coming to Idaho somewhere.

An interesting question, and I'd be curious to hear a bona fide brewer address it. Based on my own limited and obviously subjective experience as a mere consumer of these styles, I feel that barley-wines are much more prone to suffer from a suffocating and overwhelming sweetness. Perhaps the real challenge in crafting them is figuring out how you keep that in check, and yet still allow for the rich intensity and complexity which can be, as it certainly was with Brew 1000, their hallmark?

The predominant chocolate and coffee notes derived from the malts in big stouts, on the other hand, provide an intrinsic roasty bitterness which helps, in my view, to balance them out. Maybe they get an unfair advantage because the grains the style "requires" lend themselves to a flavor profile that's easier to work with in the overall recipe (and more welcome to most palates on the receiving end)?

Lots of crazyness to get this in distro. Really glad I went, I hated chasing batch 1000.

Probably depends on where you went to try to find it. I called my local right after I saw @derftron's Saraveza post (many thanks again good sir). They confirmed they had just gotten it in that afternoon, and still had bottles available. I drove right over (5 minute drive), got my bottle, and asked if I could purchase another bottle to share with the pub. They said sure, and in fact, even cracked open a bottle of Golden Valley Old Relic for everyone to share. Pretty painless "hunt" I have to say.

Can't say I have any complaints with how distribution went in my neck of the woods.

After missing out on the Midnight Still & Reuben's Imperial Stout "No FOMO" only goes so far. I'm glad I spent 2 hours in line to get Rusty. After all, what's wrong with spending 2 hours with kindred spirits?

Got a 2nd bottle at Beaumont market in PDX. If your willing to spend a few minutes on Twitter hitting up the shops, you should be able to locate it. Seems like most places got a case of it.

You probably summed it up nicely. The people in line aren't kindred spirits to me. As someone else said, some of us seem them as Pokémon chasers and such. That's not who I identify with. I'd rather relate to someone sitting on the bar stool next to me, not someone in a line, waiting for their dole that they'll take home and secret it away.

To someone else, perhaps even you, the line is full of people excited for their allotment, anxious at the possibility of it all.

I'm not saying either perspective is correct, just that we both view it differently.

I was out of town this weekend, so I wasn't able to go to Fremont on Saturday. I missed out in West Seattle at both Beer Junction and Super Deli Mart. Stopped by Super Deli Mart on Monday and was told to expect it Wednesday. Went back around noon on Wednesday, but they hadn't received it yet. By the time I got off work at 5, it was gone.

On another note, there had been two bottles of 2015 BBOMB that had been sitting on the shelves at SDM for a while (and were there when I stopped by Monday). I told myself that if I didn't get Rusty Nail, I would at least buy another one of those bottles. Lo and behold, they were both gone as well when I went back on Wednesday. I bought a bottle of Anian and Stone's RIS instead. Not a bad consolation I guess.

There's another consolation alternative --- you could head down to the brewery and get some Rusty Nail on tap (still flowing as of last night). And while you're at it, you could buy some cans or bottles of their regular lineup, since sales of these are actually what allow Fremont to make and sell (at reasonable prices and relatively good amounts) limited releases like Rusty Nail, etc.

Back off the condescension. I regularly buy Fremont products and when I lived 5 minutes from the brewery, I visited it often. Now that I live farther away, it's not easy for me to just run by on a weeknight. Hopefully it will still be pouring on Saturday when I have time to make it up there.

Sorry about that. Didn't mean to come off as condescending. Apologies. I simply used your post as a happy reminder to all of us to show our local breweries as much love as possible, limited release days and otherwise.

    Sorry again. Cheers.

It's still available at Market of Choice in West Linn. $19.99/btl. Licorice doesn't appeal to me :slight_frown:

Ha ha... I was thinking of stopping by there, but just assumed they wouldn't be on the allocation list (seeing as how the beer is so limited).

I think it's only limited in Washington - more of a shelf turd in peripheral markets
