What beer are you drinking now? #1363

This one is holding up pretty well

 

The three-year-old decided to start getting up at ungodly early hours again. Thankfully, there is Barney the dinosaur to keep her entertained and Sixpoint Puff to keep me awake.

 

What with all the talk here recently . . .



Appearance: Looks hazy at first until you realize that's just the depth of the rich amber color. Like bottled late afternoon sunlight. Rich, small bead white cap with good lacing.

Aroma: Earthy, spicy hops, rich malt core, good interplay between the two.

Taste: Tasty hops announce the entry like a trumpet voluntary. Rich caramel malts follow with hops sailing above the solid malt structure. This is good stuff. Finish is is the reverse with hops away followed by rounded rich malt. It's 7.2 % ABV, you mean I can have only one? Aw, man.

Someone is on their game here, the hop mixture used is beautifully balanced. The malt core is sufficient to counter the hops and the whole just works so well together.

 

Now this is pretty darn good.

Posting up one from my Toronto vacation, because this beer deserves some attention. A delicious mix of Nordic elements, integrated seamlessly into a solid Pale. Deliciousness.

Finally starts today, last year I lead off with a KBS, this year something just as flavorful.

And for those of you who like checking out the bottoms (and who doesn't? )

Tomorrow we hit the road for Northern Michigan, and hopefully hit a half dozen fine brewers along the way.
