Just purchased some Fuller's ESB and can't believe it's been about five years since I've enjoyed this style. Great malt profile, and the hops balance everything out very nicely. Actually, this is the only ESB I've had. Was my go-to beer way back when. Does anyone else enjoy and respect this style of brew? What others should I seek out? I think Blue Point might have growler fills at the brewery. Thanks!

Fuller's is hard to beat. It's the best one I've had IMO.

I have always liked Bitch Creek from Grand Teton Brewing and I remember Red Hook's was always very good, but I haven't had it in forever. The Bitch Creek XX (I think...) was also pretty good, but it is pretty beefy for an ESB, I think. Also, they have bizarre distribution so who knows if you could get it. I think SC is the one of the only states on the East coast that gets their beer.

Bluebird Bitter. Fuller's is great too though. Can't think of any real noteworthy American takes on the style.

I also like the style. My favorites are not distributed out of MN (AFAIK):
    Northgate Brewing: Parapet ESB
    Bent Paddle Brewing: 14° ESB

Green Man ESB from Asheville, NC is respectable for an American version and the one I can find most reliably fresh.

Fans of Fullers ESB, if you ever get the chance you have to try some on cask, it's incredible. Actually, ESB isn't a style in the UK. Fuller's ESB is just a strong ale, and a good example of one.

I've also liked very much Iron Maiden's Trooper 666 ESB, not the ordinary one, but the 666 (The ordinary is fine too, but the 666 is better IMHO)

Yep, this. Adnams Broadside on cask is fantastic as well, if you want to include that in this "style."

Fuller's ESB for sure. Gotta be fresh though, when it is it's out of this world tasty.

One of my favorite styles. Fullers is fantastic, and there are a few already mentioned I would second, such as Grand Teton Bitch Creek, and Bent Paddle 14° ESB. I would also add Alesmith ESB, and Ballast Point Calico, which is now called California Amber, but does drink like and ESB. I wish more brewers made these, they are a great year round style, and work well with many different types of food.

Fuller's ESB is a long time favorite that I buy when I'm an area where it's sold. As for a domestic favorite that's a work still in progress.

I agree, Fullers ESB is #1 with me. I've enjoyed others but always come back to Fullers. Years ago I brewed an ESB at Barleycorns in Natick Mass. under the direction of Dan Eng. It was delicious!! Wish I had some right now.

    Cheers!

Steel Wheels by Blue Mountain in VA is also very nice.

I don't see too many others around. Anderson Valley and Deschutes used to make superb versions, but even they may have been discontinued due to poor sales.

I really enjoy ESBs. But this thread got me to thinking what's my favorite... I don't know. It seems that there isn't one that really stands out to me.

I suppose I'll have to sit down and really drink through several of them again!

    Darn.
