Snagged a sixer on Saturday. Very good pilsner and a good mix-up for the style from the Summerfest and Prima I have in my fridge as well. Definitely something I will buy in the future, and the pint cans make it even better.

Indeed. The problem has been that most new brewers simply don't have the skill to make a good lager. Ales are easy...and are ready for consumption a lot sooner than a proper lager. That's probably the primary reason that som any of the new brewers focus of ales (and as easy as ales are to make, there are amazingly still a lot of really bad ones hitting the shelves in the recent brewery boom).

Some good, well balanced lagers would be a very welcome thing. The problem is the American tendency to overdo everything and push it over the top. Such is the 'American culture' (an oxymoron if there ever was one).

Being an American apologist is insufferably boorish. It requires small thinking and a narrow world view, yet purports the opposite.

If you traveled, and were able to do so without having wrapped yourself in a shroud of American inferiority, you'd see that there's small world thinking everywhere. Boorishness is the result of boorish people and attitudes, not geography. There is beauty, skill, quality, kindness and culture to be found all over the world. Similarly with the negative aspects of the (lowly) human existence. In travels, as in life, you will find what you are looking for.

A well made beer, be it an ale, lager, hybrid or wild requires skill. Period. There are no 'easy' beers to make. There are only difficult ones. Your insights into brewing rank right up there with "dumping a bunch of hops in masks flaws" (no, you just end up with a really hoppy flawed beer, and anyone with an educated palate can suss that out) and the age-old "bock beers come from the bottom of the barrel."

BeerAdvocate Forum posters would do well to bookmark this post, and refer to the wisdom within regularly. Note that I don't suffer barroom debates, thus attempts to engage me in such will be rightly ignored. I simply share wisdom. Accept it, or not, I am unbothered either way.

LOL. We actually agree on a lot more things than you seem to believe. And we certainly disagree on a few things. But, as you so eloquently state, accept it, or not, I am unbothered either way.
In the end, it's only beer. :astonished:

Still no Wussie sightings in central Maryland. Still no Arrogant Bastard 16oz cans either. DC and NOVA have had the AB cans though for quite a while.

I will certainly revisit this wisdom when "dumping a bunch" is the order of the day.

I just picked up a sixer and think it's pretty meh. I dunno, maybe a little bit too much bitterness and I love IPAs.
