I still enjoy IPAs quite a bit, and they are a large percentage of beers that I drink in general.. probably over 60%+. But if I try to go over my top 25 beers list in my head…there may be 5 IPAs on it and the rest would all be stouts, imperial stouts or BA imperial stouts. Hooked? No. But do I drink them most of the time? Yes, because I can't drink 10-15% imperial stouts when I get home on a hot day from work and want a refreshing drink.

Dude Most of the time Session IPAs taste much hoppier than regular strength IPAs mainly because SIPAs lack a well define malt body in witch any complex flavor comes purely from the hops, in fact most SIPAs usually come across as hop water with little to no malt at all. With that said I would say that your probably more into IPAs(In the general sense of a Hop forward beer) now than every before! That is from the perspective of a malt to hop ratio. So it stikes me as odd that you would say your not into IPAs but instead are into Session IPAs.

I think your still HOOKED too and dont even know it!

What is funny is that 70% of what I drink are IPA's and hoppy APA's, but I'm not picky about which one.

I hate that most stores carry a jillion IPA's, but none of them fresh. I would rather have a couple dozen choices that are less than a month old than 100's that are starting to hit the 6 month mark.

I'm assuming we're talking about American IPAs.

I like American IPAs fine and love having them in the fridge as closers. A good, fresh American-hop bite can chew through almost anything hanging around on the palate. But I've never been hooked on them. Big stouts, abbey ales, pilseners, the English pale ale family and farmhouse ales/saisons/wild ales have come much loser to "hooking" me than American IPAs.

But that, of course, is just me ...

My favorite style for a LONG time. My first craft beer, my most had style, yet most are generally the same for me. Ill buy them still. Drink them often and not realize it. I drink them less now behind pilsner and saison. I dont consider myself a hop head but I've gad more IPAs than anything else. Love the dryness that follows

Yes, IPAs are definitely still my favorite style. It's what I look for first when I open up the beer fridge.

With the copious amounts of fantastic IPA's being produced here in the Bay Area and CA in general, it sure is an amazing time to be an IPA lover! I've recently had some terrific new offerings:

    Cellarmaker:
    - Mo' Nelson
    - Double Dobis
    - Permanent Daylight

    Modern Times:
    - Accumulated Knowledge (wow! Who needs NE beers when we have this!)
    - Booming Rollers
    - Orderville

    Kern River:
    - Hop Nookie (outstanding TIPA)

I went way overboard here. Over-share alert..

I look forward to them but I am not "hooked." I have seen some brilliant hoppy things in other styles like steampipe and my favorite hoppier beer is the pilsner so I also think the blonde can be really sensational. I like the american pale wheat ale. That's hoppier. The esb, the english pale.

I'd be lying if I said yes. Although I do still enjoy a good one, I've found that I've been drinking IPAs less. I went to hard on hops for a year or two and it had a negative effect on me. Taking some time to reset my palate and my mind (I guess?).

I've never been hooked on IPAs but about once a year I go through a phase where I drink them and enjoy them more, usually in the Spring for some reason (when I'm burnt out on heavy winter beers and before I get into my light summer beer phase).

I went for never was. I do love IPA, I would even say the the American IPA is my favorite style, but my consumption is so varied I cannot say I was ever hooked. Hoppy beers of an array of style (IPA, Pale, DIPA, Amber, Hoppy Red, etc) make a a good chunk of my consumption, but never the majority.

Agree 100%. We created this huge demand for great IPAs and the market (breweries) have answered by creating some amazing beers. And they will continue, and I hope they do, as long as we continue to chase them, wait in line for them and post and discuss them on here. Cheers.

Yes, out of 20 beers i drink, 17 or 18 will be ipa.

I have kind of drown out of the 10+% ones however. There was a timeframe where i was almost exclusively drinking 3x or heavy double ipas. Now ive come to find that the sweet spot for me is 6-8% and mostly single ipas. I also drink more sessions or pales than I did before.

The market is full of light, crisp ipa options that are a modest abv. Im a fan.

My main drinking buddy went to almost exclusively sessions and pales. 6ish % is his cut off
