More so than ever,I've been getting some great IPAs through trades, on line ordering and new stuff that's coming into my market. Plus, with the trend of citrusy, tropical fruit offerings, I couldn't be happier

Yes. What excites me about IPAs is that in the past half-decade they've become more of a genus than a species: they're all "hoppy," yes, but that word has almost lost its meaning. With the many varieties of hop available, and the different types of hopping, combined with the variation of base beer, an IPA can taste like anything.

I love finding people who "don't like IPAs" and giving them something dry-hopped, citrusy, melony, with minimal resin. IPAs have become an incredibly variable style.

I am far more hooked now on as fresh as possible IPAs and dIPAs than I was before (more name chasing, etc.)
P.S. I voted for still hooked :grinning:

I answered "no, but still like them." I find more often than not I'm reaching for something hoppy, even if it's something like Prima Pils. I'm not hooked though, because I certainly enjoy the array of styles we have at our disposal these days, and I do certainly make my rounds. Though it is easy to get hooked on these New England IPAs, with the demand and obsession we all share for breweries like Treehouse, Trillium, Other Half, etc. What a time to be alive!

I'd say nearly 3/4 of the beers I drink are some style of IPA, especially during the summer. I might throw a few Pilsners in thuis time of year, but that's rare.

Once the chill fall air hits I'm pretty much 50/50 IPA v. Porter/Stouts

I'm kinda on and off when it comes to IPAs. I'll go through extended periods of time where they sound awful but other times (like now) they sound awesome!

If I ad to rank my favorite beer styles though, I'm not even sure if IPAs would break the top ten.

It would be interesting to see a poll taken about IPA love and age of the drinker.

Not ever hooked, but I (or my palate) have come a long way from thinking IPAs were a bitter mess many years ago to enjoying them regularly. Two Hearted is one of my go-to brews during the summer.

Not excusing this but I think it's because IPAs have reigned supreme for so long and there was an all out hoppy beer war and, "Let's just go ahead and make every style hoppy," and as a craft beer drinker if you didn't praise IPAs you felt as if you weren't considered to be a real craft beer drinker. Now we are starting to see the backlash on that and people were getting sick of having 20 choices when they walked into a place and 18 were IPAs.

I'm glad the let's see how bitter we can make a beer trend seems to be coming to an end and I am really enjoying the newfound lower IBU and more focused on the flavors and complexities of hops trend.

I tend to agree. When I was a rookie and searching for beer, all things being equal I'd look for the one that said "125 ibu" or whatever (experience has now told me this isnt relevant to a quality hop profile). Or if i deviated, it had to be a "hoppy" take on a style. "Hoppy pale lager" or whatever.

The skill of todays brewers making 60 ibu 6% IPA, is mind blowing. As I've come to get older, I appreciate this refinement. Now, I'm perfectly content with a 35ibu 5% pale ale. I would have scoffed at that before. Many of my drinking buddies felt the same way.

Someone mentioned two hearted. When I first tried it in my hop faze I thought it was boring and uninspired. Now i love it

I love IPA's, LOVE EM! But I am currently straight up addicted to sours, had a sweet tooth since I was a tiny thing, and basically sours are like the new man's candy so I just can't get enough of em. I want a sour so sour that my face will pucker up to much that I essentially eat my own face due to the fat that it has been pulled inside of itself because I did not heed the word of my friend to not sip on that so sour Sour.

I like many different styles, but keep coming back to IPA and IIPA brews. I like session IPAs fine, and pale ales too. It's all good. Cheers!

I think American hops are unbalanced with turpenes. Myrcene is the main culprit. I am not always in the mood for a beer that leaves such a strong aftertaste.

Turpenes are found in pine, mango, grapefruit, resin, and all hops.
