Love SN--at least they waited till July--I guess.

Hope there is another bottling a bit later.

Who cares if it's early- SN is successfully revitalizing the whole Oktoberfest category in this country! (and that may even eventually lead to a reduction in Pumpkin beers ) Plus, this one sounds like it'll be better the fresher it is. I'll pick some up when I see it, for sure.

I do. I prefer to drink my Oktoberfest beers in the fall and it would be my preference that the beer I am drinking in late Sept/Oct was not bottled on 7/1/2016.

    Cheers!

Fair enough- but if you have the fridge space, it may be better to at least buy some now and keep it cold until then.

ETA- I'm sure @sierranevadabill will be around shortly to assuage your fears that this will be the only packaging date.

Count me in the camp that doesn't care if it's early. And I feel Oktoberfests (pale or amber) should be consumed as fresh as possible. So when they hit the shelves, I pick them up. I always see multiple bottlings of multiple varieties, so having a solid 2 - 3 months to sample all of them is welcomed.

Two things about the July bottling date, and future bottling dates:

    1) @sierranevadabill can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's posted on here multiple times that Sierra Nevada, in accordance with many in the industry, brews seasonals quarterly, not seasonally. A July 1st bottling date does not surprise me.

    2) I think there was more than one batch brewed last year (likely more than two as well). I'd be surprised if there was only one, I could be wrong though. Moreover, Sierra Nevada's bottling system is high quality, their bottles can hold up better than most over time. As I said above, I enjoy Oktoberfests as fresh as possible, but I wouldn't hesitate to drink a 3 month old bottle either. That's October 1st, which is right around when the actual Oktoberfest ends anyways.

Oh...and you'll start seeing pumpkin beers this month as well...which is far more egregious in my opinion, since there aren't any actual pumpkins around in July...

Sadly, that is not the case. I have one refrigerator which is primarily dedicated for food.

I do have a cooler in my basement with my last case of homebrewed Trillium Galaxy Fort Point Clone beer. Maybe once that case is exhausted I could store these Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest beers in that cooler? Or maybe I will just buy a case of Sly Fox Oktoberfest beer that was brewed in a month later than July!?!

    Cheers!

Alright! It's seasonal creep time. Creep on and give me all your summer Oktoberfests... and this is your yearly reminder that there's no such thing as the wrong season to drink a beer.

this. Just a couple weeks ago, I uncovered about 18 SN Celebration bottles at the in-laws bottled 10/2/15 and they taste great as they did in November and December.

begs the question: How do they do it???
