Bottles are $50/ea plus the $3 charity event brite fee....that's a big gamble, lol. The 20 or so bottle tickets that are left over at the moment will likely be gone in the next few days:sunglasses:

I'll give them this, not many brewers are making Eisbocks stateside, let alone a quality example. Definitely a unique process that requires additional time and effort. Applying barrel aging only adds to that process.

Worth $50? Maybe not, I know I skipped this one. I'm happy with a bottle of Aventinus Eisbock in my beer belly, at a fraction of the cost. But they've apparently sold almost $35,000 of it so a bunch of others clearly think it's worth it.

Hopefully those funds get applied to finishing their damn bottling line:astonished:

Not sure where the disconnect is. you don't have to pay for the bottles just because you have a ticket. Eventbrite only charged $3 a ticket. The $50 is paid at the brewery.

So, if I taste it at the Anny party and choose not to buy bottles I'm only out $3 per ticket and it goes to charity so it's not much of a gamble.

The sad thing is, now that 200 some people were willing to pony up $50 for 12oz of that style, you are going to see a lot more brewers attempting Eisenbocks and trying to sell them for way more than they should be...

Who cares. A business can sell their product for whatever they want. The beauty is you don't have to buy it. If you complain about the price and buy it anyways, you are the reason it is priced high. There will always be a high end of any business. If they sell, they are worth what they are priced at. If they don't sell, they will probably lower the price.

Who cares? Probably anyone who thinks profit driven trends are a bad thing. I prefer to have brewers who are passionate and knowledgeable about what they are making, not someone who is trying to turn a fast buck.

If 15 years of watching Kuhnhenn has taught us anything, it's that they're definitely not just interested in making a fast buck. Look at how many far inferior Michigan or even Metro Detroit breweries have run laps around them in terms of production and distribution.

I'm with you. I am a long time customer of Kuhnhenns. I have been a visitor for 12- or 13 of the 15 years they have been open. $15.00 6oz of KRE was never to much for me, but $50.00 for 12oz of BA KRE is. To each their own though. The product will sell. That price point is still fairly cheap when put to limited wine or scotch pricing.

Remember to those complaining....Kuhnhenns is as Kuhnhnss does, and it has been working for them for 15 years.

    Cheers

What should they be selling it for?

If the bottles sell out at quickly $50.00 they were priced to low. If the bottles sit on the shelf for months and months perhaps they were priced to high.

    The market sets the price.

What is the "what" you are referencing? I suspect you didn't read my post.

I am sorry for the lack of clarity in my brief post. I did read your post, thanks for checking.

You stated that"you are going to see a lot more brewers attempting Eisenbocks and trying to sell them for way more than they should be..."

I was curious as to what price you thought brewers should be pricing eisbiocks at?

The point I was trying to make is that the market sets the price.

Ha. I can't think of any breweries giving away beer. Its not charity. its business. Good luck in your not for profit driven dreamworld.

I'm sorry your knowledge is limited and you can't think of any. Google it and you'd be surprised. I don't think I ever stated I wanted to live in a not for profit dream world, but I suppose that's what you dream up when you are living in your own, eh?

The market sets the price, the price is high therefore competitors will get into the market hoping to turn a large profit. I don't disagree, what you aren't following is that in the rush to get into high end eisenbocks you are going to see a lot of inferior product being overpriced and selling until it adjusts, that isn't good for the consumers stuck with a high priced inferior product... I can't tell you how many new breweries or new styles from established brewers I've been burned on.

KRE is one of my favorite beers, just found out they're doing BA KRE and BA KBE. Damn.... Well if anyone is having buyers remorse after purchasing a ticket of either and wants to unload it, I can trade for some Veil, Aslin, or other MD/VA beers or beers I have For Trade on here for one of those $50 bottles

No remorse yet, let me try a couple ounces this weekend first although I suspect I will be keeping mine for my own consumption! - (might want to try the ft:iso boards rather than this thread though)
