Idle Hands Malden update?

I'm not sure about the opening date but it must be soon. They had some photos on FB of the brewing equipment earlier in April and construction photos of the bar area on May 13. They said their latest two beer releases, a maibock and a lager, are the last batches that will be brewed off-site.

 

The taproom isn't open yet but the Idle Hands FB page says they have brewed and packaged their first beer in Malden! From the photo looks like kegs of Patriarch. Getting closer!

 

Just announced on FB, the grand opening of the new Malden taproom will be Thursday, July 7!

They have, what looks like, a finished picture (as opposed to rendering) on their website. The place looks great!

And they are looking to raise a bit of money by giving custom engravings on each of their 14 barstools at $500/pop.

Great news, and everything seems to have come together pretty quickly given how they were forced to scramble for a new place. Can't wait to check the new space out as they are the brewery that taught me there's more to Belgian beer than that particular yeasty/estery flavor I don't happen to care for.

Have I missed a thread about who they've got brewing now? And I wonder if they'll still be doing the volunteer-bottler thing?

 

I know Brett is doing a lot of their brewing and he learned directly from Ben so I'm not worried

 

That's who I was thinking of. I got to meet Brett at a couple of bottling shifts and was hoping he got the chance to move on up when Ben left.

 

I think I might still have a beer or two from their beer-membership-club-thingy that I could never find the time to get over there and pick up. Wonder if they'll have that list handy after they open and get settled?

We still have the list of releases that weren't picked up but please let us get through the initial mayhem of opening and getting everything running smoothly in the tap room before asking for them.

Also, we will not be filling growlers, etc for the first week or so for the same reason.

Was there on tuesday for a sneak-peak.

 

I believe I've tried a German-style beer or two of theirs in the past and enjoyed it, but it's been awhile.

Needless to say, I'm pumped to have another tap room in the area. It's equidistant between my apartment and Nightshift, so this is another easy Uber ride for me. I plan on heading over sooner rather than later to try more of their beers!

Great space, nice people behind the bar, ok to bring in outside food, staff and customers nice to my 10 yr old kid. Would like to see Bavarian type pretzels offered eventually (might have missed that, in case they are/will be offered)
Beer info:
Really nice Zwickle. Great dry hopped Farmhouse. Hoppy stuff (IPA and Session IPA) good, not great. Couldn't take my eyes off that lagering tank of Adelais behind the bar though, can't wait!
Crowlers hopefully next week, you will be able to trade in your glass growlers I think.
Only major issue is that it's not in Medford (you know, because Malden is sooooo far away).
Will return ASAP.
