Parking shouldn't be a huge issue. Worst case, you're walking a block or two.

Piper's is a great bar with really good food as well.

I would rank the must see of Pittsburgh breweries/beer bars as follows: Brew Gents, Voodoo, Fat Heads, Pipers, Roundabout. Anything else you get in is a bonus. There are also some nice places in the south hills but I wouldn't waste too much of your time driving all around the greater Pittsburgh area.

Smallman Galley is a great option for local beers if you make it down to the Strip. They have 20 local taps, usually a couple Brew Gentlemen beers and many other locals. It's also a really cool restaurant "incubator" concept if you're into the food side of things.

Oh, and if you have a Sunday morning, Pipers would be the place to grab breakfast (with beers). As long as their isn't a big match on--if so, get your ass there early. But to be economical, you could save Southside for Sunday (again, if you have a Sunday morning): do Pipers for breakfast, then walk the sixty feet to Fat Heads (think they open at 1030-1100).

Knock many of the others out Saturday, during which time I would Uber that shit up. Some driving in there and this would alleviate any parking concerns.

That's awesome guys! Thanks a lot for the info I think that will work out great.

As far as Troeg's and Al's go I've been to both a handful of times already and was going to stop on the way there or back anyway, haha. But thank you for mentioning them anyway.

Last quick question. If I can sneak in East End brewing I notice they have two locations. A pub and a taproom? Is there any difference between spots, and if so, which would be the better one to hit?

    Neither?

    Joking.

    But, seriously neither.

Edit: Think Green Giant (East End IPA) is on at Pipers, so you could always see if you like it and then double down by visiting a dedicated location.

Go to the tap room. Commonplace coffee shares the space with East end. They have great coffee.

99 bottles in Carnegie has BASSU on tap. Those that go to get a fill of insurrections el stoopido, which is damn good, can move a bit up the road for a pour of BASSU.

Wish I knew this when I was at insurrection yesterday :/

LOL at first I thought this was some Speedway variant that I hadn't heard of. Sometimes I hate acronyms. Thanks for the heads up though now that I know what this is.

Pig Iron Pub in Cranberry/Mars had BA SSU as well as of a couple days ago. Not sure if it's still there.

Their prices are absurd though - $24 for a keglet (25.4 oz crowler) of BA SSU. They did a Voodoo tap event last week and were charging $18 for a keglet of Vandelay, which is $17 for a 64 oz at Voodoo.

That's pretty odd though as their keglet prices are usually really good.

Looks like Boulevard is starting to distribute in State College. Only a matter of time before they begin to distribute in Pittsburgh.

There's a full page advertisement on the back of July's CraftPittsburgh that says Boulevard Brewing coming to western PA beginning in August.

    Shameless self promotion:

I have started a new position with Steel City Beer Wholesalers and will be working with the accounts and ordering and whatever else. We are a small operation as you may already know. If you are out and about at your favorite bar, restaurant or distributer and don't see any of our brands (Pizza Boy, Knee Deep, Evil Twin, Off Color, Stillwater, Against the Grain), let me know. Ill post up events and special tapings that are planned here if you don't mind. Many of you know me either personally or from beer events, so don't hesitate to message me, post here or just flame me. Cheers.
