I must say I'm intrigued by this one. I really enjoy White IPA's and I'd imagine thats what this really is

Allagash White and Stone Citrusy Wit got me back into witbier, so I'll happily give this a try. I also need to try Hoegaarden again since it's been a couple of years.

That label looks like something I would've made in my Intro to Desktop Publishing class in 2006.

You are implying that Lagunitas has any good labels? Their labels stink, their beer is good, that's all that matters.

This is how the beer is described on the Lagunitas website: “An Un-Freakin'-Filtered Hoppy Belgian-ish Wit

This UNFILTERED Belgian-ish Wit-ly-esque-ish-ness brew features a dry twang of hoppy bitterness and is perfect for the summertime drinking!”

So, maybe White IPA is the proper categorization of this beer?

    Cheers!

No, of course not - all of their labels are awful, but I love it!

I'm expecting the mouthfeel of a wit, with a dry finish and some coriander spice- so those would differentiate it from a Belgian IPA. The AbV is definitely high for a wit, though, at 6%. I picked some up today, so I'll report back when it's chilled and ready.

I just popped one open, and it's pretty much like I expected- the very perfumy floral/spicy aroma and flavor of a Belgian IPA married to the dry-wheaty smooth mouthfeel of a witbier, and a subtle coriander quality coming out on the finish. Overall, the Belgian IPA qualities are much more dominant (i.e.- it's very hoppy), but it's quite drinkable. Very nice job by Lagunitas.

So no coriander, and that citrus quality comes from the hops? Cool how they pulled that off.

Had it. Very nice. The hops really do an awesome job of bringing out some good lemony/Limey citrus notes that blend in quite well with that wheat profile. I feel like I used to not have that high of a regard for Lagunitas, but after trying more and more of their stuff (including the 12th of Never APA that's coming out soon) and visiting their awesome Chicago Headquarters, I've really grown to like their operation and what they're all about.

I agree, the beer is what matters, not the label, however....... Lagunitas had me with the Little Sumpin' labels, but lately they're into these mega-text-length labels and ads that quite frankly are a pain in the ass to read without any reward in the end. WTF happened? What weird ass marketing.
Having vented, can't wait to try this beer.

Good stuff for sure.. Not as Belgian forward as their Sumpin Wild so somewhere between that and the regular Sumpin.. Picked up a sixer and will probably pick up more.. Side note: Down Low is delicious for a sub 4 abv beer as well.. lagunitas IPAs seem to never disappoint me.

The label says 4.8% ABV, not 6%, no?

Mine actually say 6.3%. I think I got that 6% from their website.

I don't doubt you but the label here does say 4.8%. That's a pretty big change from what they thought it would be.

Well, they must have done the label before they finished coming up with a final beer recipe; I mean, a label of that quality must take months and months to design .
