I wind up at Target Field once a year as part of a business trip (August this year). Have been very unlucky with beer choices, as my hosts who are quite gracious always run out to get me something 'I have to try' and wind up coming back with yet another Grain Belt. I know there is good beer there, it just hasn't been for me. What can I find and where do I have to go for it? Thanks in advance.

Now that's an answer to a question! Holy crap. Thanks. It also explains why they never come back with good beer - we are in Section 6, it's halfway around the park to these. Guess I'll man up and make the walk as needed.

If you enter the ballpark from the plaza (Gate 34), the Twins Pub will be right off to your left. Grab a Surly or Fulton as you make your way to your crappy seats!

Yeah, I would hate having to slum it in sec 6.

It's tough, you have to pay attention to avoid a rocket to the face. Not my seats, just lucky to have a supplier who we do lots of business with that has them. Funny thing - we do an annual business review with them. When I got involved with them the review was being held in March. It was that way for years. March in MN? WTF? The last time we did that it was -20 one day. Then come to find out by accident that they have these seats. Haven't had a meeting that didn't coincide with a home game since.

At this point -20 icefishing may be more fun than watching the Twins!!!
    Enjoy the game!

Sort of off-topic for this post but I just started working right next to the ballpark, anyone know where I can go to for a decent beer around here?

I've hit Gluek's but if I'm not in a hefeweizen mood they don't have anything notable. Butcher is a bit of a walk, was hoping somewhere close would have Todd or something that I can pop in after work or over lunch hour.

Red Cow and McKenzie are your best options but if Butcher is too far then those two may be as well. Otherwise Haute Dish (not open for lunch) or, maybe, Pizza Luce.

Thanks, that will help me too, we are staying right down the street and could use a place to stop after the game.

Butcher and the boar is super good food/beer and a nice patio. It's maybe 8-10 blocks from the field? Too far to walk for lunch break but defintiely doable for a beer if you're staying at the Marriott or something.

Otherwise right outside the stadium is Gluek's, a German bar, they have some traditional German beers and local stuff that's ok, but not much in the way of IPA or stout. However they have a pretzel that's like a foot across that I'd recommend.

A short walk from the ballpark will get you to Fulton or Modist taprooms.

We stay at the Hampton on North 8th, so both of those are walkable. Thanks.

They added nets above the dugouts this year so you won't have to worry about spilling your beer anymore in Sec 6

The other option would be to not drink over your lunch hour.

Good to know. At the game last year a lady took a shot to the face opposite us in section 12/13. They stopped the game for 20 minutes it was such a big deal. I'm really not that attentive, so I see the nets being a benefit to me.

The Depot (next door to First Avenue) is a sneaky spot for a good beer. Usually have a Surly and Summit rotating tap in addition to 1 or 2 handles from those two. 2 hearted, Sculpin, and a few others are standbys too.
