This event, the only beers there are what is brought by ticket buyers? Or are other beers there for sample.

Just a little confused on how exactly this works.

    Straight from the link.

It's that time of the year again where we come together to celebrate lambic. This year's format will be a little different as there are tickets now. Your ticket grants you admission as well as a commemorative glass and t shirt! It's still a lambic / gueuze share so bring as much lambic as you would like to! There will also be some "palette reseters" thanks to our main sponsors, Collective Brewing Project as well as other surprises!

The price of the ticket covers the expense of putting on the event plus you get a glass and shirt.

Yes its a share and you need to bring some lambic but

I was pretty much able to drink my weight in Cantillion last year, so....

That's why I asked if it was non-profit. Wondering if there's any $ left over after expenses and what happens to it.

It's a nice idea if you can profit off other people's beer. Lol

So you would be ok with profiting off of an event where the guest pay to attend and supply the drinks? And for the record, no I will not be going.

Not planning on going. I can put together my own share quite easily. I don't have a problem with the price either, because there are expenses to be covered and trinkets to be supplied. It's the profit aspect (if that's involved in this case) that I find ingenious... I mean getting people to pay to drink their own beer is quite clever. Lol

I have no problem with the event if it's a non-profit venture.

Profits are going towards restocking and upgrading my cellar. Stop being a pain in the ass @mhenson42 and GO FUND ME.:grinning::sunglasses:

I don't mind if it's a non-profit or for-profit event. I see it as paying for a glass and a shirt and being able to have a share at a venue that you normally couldn't without renting out that place yourself. $25 for a t shirt and a glass isn't bad. From a share aspect, I'll probably get the opportunity to share with people who aren't in my normal share group or circle, so that will be cool too.

Hmm. Last year's Lambic Fest was probably the best beer event I've ever been to. Just search for the pics of the bottles that were popped. It was pretty fucking epic. Also, I get the hesitation about spending the money for this, but going on how amazing last year was, it is totally worth the $25.

I just want to know if it is for profit or not. Then people can make an informed decision:wink:

I'm not judging anyone, but if you're bent over $25 to try some amazing beers that you wouldn't otherwise have a creack at you should probably rethink your consumption habits

Matt, I'll tell ya what. You and any friends of your chosing can come to my house and bring all the beer you want, doesn't even have to be lambic. I'll only charge you $10 but you get no shirt and just a glass to drink from while you're here. Room and board is an extra $50. Lemme know.

No one is "bent" over $25; just asking for some transparency in costs. I don't know why folks don't support the transparency more; as mentioned, it helps folks make their choices. I know we're certainly happy when breweries are straightforward with us on the boards; this question could be handled with the same candor.

It certainly seems strange to be explicitly asked and not to simply reply one-way or the other.
If it's for-profit say so and be done with it.

Fair enough, but I don't ask a bar what they do with their profit after they've facilitated overcharging me for a couple pours... I'm not sure why it factors into the decision. Unless they were like 'we're using it to kill puppies' cause then I wouldn't do it!

Yeah, but you also don't bring your own beer to a bar, have them pour it for you, and then be happy to pay whatever they charge. There's a pretty big difference.
