Rob Jansen, a very close friend of mine, was killed in a climbing accident a couple of weeks ago. Besides mountains, Dale's Pale Ale was probably his favorite thing on this earth. One of our friends got in touch with Dale himself, and OB has been simply incredible. I've heard that they donated to Mountain Rescue Aspen, who got his body and his injured climbing partners (myself included) off Hagerman Peak near Snowmass Mountain.

They have also made a run of Dale's with "Climb on, Rob" inscribed on the bottom of the cans. Not only are these cans shipping nationwide, but OB has also provided a group of us here in CO with highly discounted six-packs. Keep an eye out for these cans and raise one to Rob if you get one!

I hope Dale gets some more business from this post. Not only does OB make great beer, but they're great people who honor and respect their fans. I think I'll be drinking Dale's exclusively for quite some time.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It always hits close to home when I hear about another climber or surfer dying doing what they love in life. It is great to see that Oskar Blues is willing to step up to support their fans in the hardest of times.

They started a bike company too, just because they like bikes.

I like Oskar blues. If only they made a barleywine in cans.

PS. Drinking an Old Chub right now for Rob. may we all pursue our passions and live a full life.

That is terrific for OB to step up like that. I for one will be buying more of their stuff knowing what kind of people make it.

    Thanks for letting us know.

That's amazing. I was looking for Ten Fidy lately, but if I don't find any I'll get some good 'ol Dale's Pale on my next visit to a beer store.

I commend Dale and his crew at OB's for taking such care and consideration for fans of their beer. I too had an awesome experience with them in the past several months, I've always enjoyed their beer and will continue to do so for a long, long time. Most importantly, so sorry to hear about your good friend and climbing partner, I will raise my glass in his honor tonight.

This story is both tragic and awesome. Very sorry for your loss, but glad you made it out OK. I will proudly support OB even more now. Hopefully we can get some of those special cans on the east coast. Thanks for sharing.

T&P for his family and yours. OB is a great brewery and great steward toward our great state. They also recently helped a friend make their wedding reception very special by providing a keg of beer they only pour in their tap room. Very good people, and very good beer.
