That's the thing; there are already ingredients in beer that contribute those flavors with a more tonally congruent quality to them if you want hints of flavor . So there's no point at all in going easy on the coffee then.

Since it tends to dominate so much, I generally think of them as "malt based coffee beverages". Kind of how I look at pumpkin beers as a dessert beverage. Go all in or go home. But even at that, there's only so much I can take, or even get in the mood for - just a little change of pace every now and then is fine.

But stouts with more integrated roast malt qualities, any day of the week.

I really enjoy coffee beers. Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown is my current favorite.

The coffee thing doesn't bother me as much as the brewers throwing fruit juice in IPA's craze.

Fruit juice in IPAs and coffee in everything. I mean, drink what you like, and if something makes you happy, it's a good beer. But I kind of miss the days when the hype beer was just a really good example of a certain style (not that breweries producing coffee beers don't do that too, see, e.g., Founders).

I avoid coffee beers for the most part. I like it in the right beer, done well. Many taste like bad coffee, so it's hard to get excited to try them.

Coffee beers got me into craft, so I'm obviously biased.

Personally, I don't think we have enough. That said, I haven't had two of the three OP outlined. I wish I could get my grubby mitts on more. I love seeing more and more being made. I do not care for many light coffee beers though. I absolutely love, LOVE, a coffee stout/porter. Victory at Sea is the beer that hatched my love for porters - before then they all tasted like watered down stouts, which completely ruined one of best features of a stout IMHO. Perhaps what I'm yearning for is more coffee stouts/porters and less of these light coffee beers.

A good coffee stout can be awesome. Coffee in other styles never sounded like it would work very well to me. If you are the same way do what I do and don't buy them. Apparently enough people enjoy them that it's worthwhile to keep making them. No one likes everything.

I'm more or less neutral on this one.

September 1st will be a year without a hot coffee (I was going over the top with it). I do like beer with a mild "secondary" coffee flavor. I don't like, or desire.. coffee beer.

My go-to style is stout. Seems everyone has to have coffee in their stouts lately and I'm OK with it as long as the other flavors in the beer aren't overcome by coffee bitterness. Unfortunately a fair number feel they need strong coffee bitterness, instead of just having a hint of coffee flavor.

But I do like Sumatra Mountain...

Damn. If I had to go through life without at least one cup of coffee in the morning I would spend my day punching people.

I enjoy coffee beers, even in pale ales and IPAs. I think it can be a great vehicle to showcase coffee and to reflect the fruitiness of hops.

My biggest hope is that the coffee IPA trend comes full circle and gets the Black IPA wave going again. I think it's genius and is personally one of my favorite styles. I just think the world wasn't ready for it at the time. Hopefully we'll ease back into BIPAs

I think. There are a lot available, id say and im not sure coffee, water, beer top 3 drinks on earth? Not included tea. But it makes sense because

Stouts can have a coffee flavor to them so people upped the ante. Just like people like the hops in pale ales and here we are at double and triple ipas.

But. Id like to see something new like moe coffee blondes or ipas. Mix it up.

A coffee dunkel or something. Maybe coffee weizenbock.

I love coffee beer. It's my single favorite adjunct, hands down. In fact, I love stouts with coffee in them more than stouts without coffee in them. Founders Breakfast Stout, Espresso Yeti, and Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast are among my favorite beers.

I think in my 23 years of life, ive had less than 10 cups of coffee ever lol. Not because i hate it but because i never think about it and caffeine makes me bounce off the walls and races my heart, but i do like it black. I need my beer at the end of the day or im a cranky mofo, which is something else completely haha

Coffee is the new barrel aging. Add it to your stout and see the aggregate go up 0.2 points on this site.

    I could do without:
    Adding coffee to pale styles
    Adding fruit to an IPA
    Insisting on juice/haze
    Over hopping a Kolsch
Making a low abv style imperial
    etc . .
I guess I'm kind of a traditionalist and I'm more than fine with that.
