Any of you guys try the Boundary Bay Escape Velocity? That beer is brewed just for OBF, it's not put on tap at the brewery, so I didn't get a chance to try it.

That's the beer I started with yesterday. I'm not sure I gave it a fair shake because I was looking for something hoppier. But it was a solid beer and I would order it again, given the chance.

Pesto beer was ok.. pretty much what youd expect! Strong aroma but taste wasnt too intense. Worth a try

Is the Dragons Milk still on day by day or is it gone for good?

Ditto. Wasn't mind blowing, but was a good, solid APA I thought.

It was on again yesterday and was still pouring when I took off around 5 or so. Just be aware that the level of douche bag behavior is pretty significant, when it comes to that beer. Unless I'm mistaken, I think it has the highest abv. level of any beer at OBF, and so in some cases, I saw guys grabbing a full pour then proceeding to the back of the line (which was still pretty long yesterday), and drinking down their glass while waiting in line for another pour.

No doubt about it, there were definitely many more inebriated folks yesterday than I saw on Wednesday.

Is that regular Dragons Milk? Funny how people get super excited over what is grocery store beer somewhere else.*

*And the same thing happens other places.

Its the Mexican Spice Cake version.

I had it on the first day and I thought it was great. I dont care if beers are grocery store beers other places or not, I just like to try new beer that is made well.

PS - Once again, it seems Rogue has made the worst beer at the festival. last year it was the smoked Lager that tasted like salmon/bacon beer (in a bad way). This year it is the habanero cherry beer. Multiple people have told me it ruined their pallet for a solid 30 min.

I thought that might've been the reason why Melvin 2X4 was gone by the time I got there on Wednesday night. I didn't even bother looking for it yesterday. (Especially since Chris mentioned we're supposed to see cans of it later this year.)

    Agreed.

What time did you go over? I got there around 4:00, and there was no line whatsoever (but they had two guys with pitchers pouring glasses for the anticipated crush). It was definitely one of the better IPA/DIPA's I sampled

Unfortunately, I agree. There were suddenly plenty of duds I tried, but I'd be hard put to think of a worse beer than the habanero cherry. Tasted like sweet cherry cough drops with a bottle of habanero hot sauce thrown in. Completely nasty and an absolute palate wrecker.

So, you're saying I should be ISO to have as a "surprise" beer at a future bottle share?

LOL! Assuming they bottle it, absolutely. It would be a very special treat for all your guests and/or participants.

I got there within a few minutes of 7:00 the past 2 nights.

As for IPA/DIPAs at the Festival, I thought Sunriver's High Desert Diesel was outstanding.

The grey one was 2X. No Xl left. Way too big for me. I'll drop it off for you if you want it. And I liked the International tent on day 1, but on day 2 the Japanese and Chinese offerings weren't quite as good as they were on day 1. I mean, who wants a Weizenbock?

I have to say, that we didn't care at all for "Kentucky Refresh Mint" from Old Town.

Same. Mint is such a hard ingredient to pull off in beer and the bourbon barrel wood didn't seem to add anything.

I'm at Ben's Bottle Shop right now... They have 2x4 as well as their IPA and MPA.
