This sounds fun and frivolous. What beer would you pair with watching different Olimpic sports? And maybe why did you make your choice. There is no need to be comprehensive. And yes I was bored when posting this. ;-)

Here is a list of the events.

If we have a gang of students over here watching the olympics I'm buying what's on sale.

Aquatics, canoeing, sailing, and rowing could be matched with Ballast Point beers. TaeKwondo and Judo should have an Asian selection.

For the marathon I need a bomber of a huge imperial stout so it will last the entire race and to get me intoxicated enough to make marathon interesting.

Back in 1980, the woman who worked across from me on the assembly line asked,
"Jess, did you go to the Olympics?"

What a weird, out-of-the-blue, question - even though the winter games had been held only a few hundred miles north in Lake Placid.
"Uh, no, why do you ask?"

    "Well, 'cause of your hat."

Hmmm... well, 60% of the correct number of rings, I guess...

Kinda funny, but also somewhat sad because she lived in Newark (or around there) and was probably 5-10 years older than I was. The famous 3-rings emblem, once among the most recognized trademarks in the country, already forgotten less than a decade after closing of the brewery...

I won't watch everything.. I'm mostly interested in cyclism and athletism. After being world champion in Richmond last fall, I hope Peter Sagan wins this too. He's a great bloke.

Having been an amateur cyclist I can tell they love beer too. Even to celebrate a victory they will have one or two before the next stage or race.

Based on all of the news stories about the water, and the pollution, I am going to say whatever is 'unfiltered'. The beers are all fantastic, but seeing the pictures of the "unfiltered" water...

In honor of the home country and if you are in it's distro path, you could go with some Xingu Black Beer:

What beer pairs well with amoebic dysentery? Maybe a Peanut Butter Porter for the bowl clogging power of protein and peanuts.
