Hey all! I'm traveling to beautiful (so I've heard) Olympia, WA next weekend with some beer-loving friends for Migration Fest. I, personally, have never been outside of the East Coast/NY area in my entire 27 years of life so far, so the prospect of this trip excites me greatly. And what pairs better with excitement than beer?

We will have a rental car and are staying at the Quality Inn in Olympia (1211 Quince St SE) and the venue is the Capitol Theater, therefore we can do a little bit of travel... probably not more than 30 minutes in either direction, though, as we do have live music to see. We will mostly be looking for quality craft beer establishments... therefore, we humbly request suggestions for bars with awesome local beer for New England beer nerds (some of whom have seen it all in their neck of the woods! *gestures towards self*), breweries with great stuff on tap and even recommendations for local food, record stores and other points of interest!

Looking forward to what you guys suggest!

    Thanks in advance...
    Skål!

Thirty minutes outside Olympia? Maybe Tacoma. They've got The Red Hot, Engine House Number 9, Pint Defiance, Parkway Tavern, Copper Door.

In Olympia there's Theee Magnets Brewing, The Eastside Tavern, and probably more local places that I'm not privy to.

FWIW, they don't often have their sours on draft, but they've got plenty of bottles to-go.

Hit the Eastside Club, and walk over to 3 Magnets brewing.

Eastside Tavern's a little crunchy, but their draft choices tend to be stellar. Just come with cash, AFAIK, cards are still not accepted there.

You are correct. Still cash only at the Eastside.

The "crunchy" atmosphere tends to be what I like best about the tavern.

If time is an issue you really don't want to get stuck in traffic between Olympia and Tacoma. There is plenty to do in Oly. Use http://washingtonbeer.com/breweries/ as a guide.

Don't know if a Monday is in your schedule but Oly Taproom has $10 growler fills on Monday.

I don't mind it either, it reminds me of the glory days of the Viking Tavern, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Just throwin' it out there in case it's a deal breaker.

If it is indeed a deal breaker, Oly Taproom and Northwest Beerwerks are both solid alternatives.

Haven't been to either one. What part of town are they in? There's a chance I'll be over there in a couple months myself, and I might be able to get the Bro to break away for an hour or two of beering.

Oly Taproom is downtown by the harbor. NW Beerwerks is just north of downtown right where 4th Ave. splits into Pacific and Martin.
