If the nuptials are in late-September, you will luck out by being here during fresh hop season, which will enhance your visit further still. The only condition we ask of you is to say the following upon your return to New York:

1.) The beer here was uniformly terrible and scarce, and--worst of all--none of it was Rare.
2.) The weather was gloomy and wet every single day.
3.) Scenery? What scenery? It was an apocalyptic wasteland.

Do this, and you can drink your fill.

Yeah, I'll be there week of 18th, so maybe fresh hop beers.

I'll be sure to rag on Seattle as well... :grinning:

Gonna be heading to the Seattle area for a week from the 16th to the 23rd, so I thought I'd post my itinerary and get input from you guys on it. I've been out there before, but not in a while, so feel free to recommend any and all (or if you'd recommend skipping any, as there's a more than decent chance I won't have the liver or time to do them all). Anyway, to the list.

    Breweries
Fremont, Holy Mountain, Reuben's, Cloudburst, Three Magnets, Engine House No. 9, Big Time, Stoup, and Urban Family.

    Bars/Bottleshops
Bottleworks, Beer Junction, Brouwer's Cafe, Chuck's Hop Shop, Malt and Vine, Special Brews, Ueber Tavern, The Wurst Place, Toronado, Beveridge, Stumbling Monk, and Pine Box.

I will also be taking a day (maybe two) to head to the Portland area.

Breweries (a lot for one day, but will be sharing and being choosy, not to mention eating a lot)
De Garde, Great Notion, Logsdon, pFriem, Double Mountain, Upright, Breakside, Baerlic, Hair of the Dog, Cascade, Deschutes, Fat Head's, Hopworks, and Commons

    Bars/Bottleshops
Belmont Station, Bailey's, Horse Brass, Apex, John's Market, Beermongers, Henry's, Saraveza, Concordia, Tin Bucket, Moon and Sixpence, Imperial, The Hop and Vine, Beaumont, Roscoe's, ABV

I'm a huge Ale Apothecary fan, so I'm really looking to pick up a few of their bottles while I'm out there.

So, if you kind NW ladies and gents would, tell me what to add and what to remove, if anything. Thanks so much!

Admittedly I'm biased, but I'd highly recommend Seapine, they're killing it lately. Not too far from Cloudburst, I'd recommend a stop.

    I third Seapine.

Malt and Vine seems out of the way unless you're planning on going to Eatside for something else.

As for for Portland, there's no way you can do the city AND hit up Hood River (Logsdon) AND Tillamook (de Garde) in a single day.

FYI - Three Magnets is in Olympia. I haven't been to their place but have had their beers. If you are actually planning a stop in Olympia, you have to go to the Eastside Club Tavern. IMHO it's the best beer bar in the state.

yeah was wondering why maritime and hales didn't make the 'must see' list. No Prost or Duck Island. Hell, I only left Seattle 5 years ago, but that seems to be an eternity in beer time. Maybe I'm just old and uncool.

Especially if he wants to hit all those bars and bottleshops too.

    Totally dig your enthusiasm, though.

I actually did just that last time I was there. It was a long haul, but I made it (though I had a DD).

Thanks all for the suggestions so far. Added Seapine and Eastside Club Tavern to the list. I'll check back again in the morning for more!

Toronado's 2nd anniversary party is today. Taplist up. Excited to try the Nelson dry hopped saison blend Holy Mountain did for them. Oh yeah. Commence bitching about their prices.

Also, Lucky Envelope has a hazy IPA today for National IPA Day. The Velvet Nugget.

Any idea how big the pours are on those Toronado beers? Unless the pours are like 6-8 oz those prices mostly look great to me.

Any recommendations for a good area to look for an AirBnb? Ideally close to the breweries/bars/bottle shops? Very unfamiliar with neighborhoods in Seattle.

I was going to ask the same question. The one in SF, whatever else you want to say about the place, they typically have some of the best draft prices in the city. I just assumed the Seattle version would have been the same way.

Ballard/Fremont would probably be the ideal hub. Anywhere in or around there, and you'll be as close to as many of the good spots as possible.

I've seen the Seattle location consistently have prices on special beers that are a dollar or so below other locations.

They're probably 6-8 oz pours for the "big" beers. I don't normally order that stuff there.
