Perhaps against my better judgement we opened the crowler. This is a big beer. Double or triple IPA. Something bitter on the nose beyond the hops; I'm thinking rye. This is a great beer. I'm thankful my dad was here to split these beers with me on IPA day!
What the hell @jonbonfondle!! Apparently @Homebrew won Jon's LIF and forwarded to me...I thought I was safe because I remember him saying he was shipping to someone he hadn't shipped to before, but then this ninja box shows up and decimates me. Seriously, this was way overboard, thanks so much! Whoa, all new ticks except for the prairie, almost all from breweries that are new to me: Fair state beers - Roselle, citra sour, rye falutin, and wild rover Bent paddle - cold press black Toppling goliath - golden nugget Indeed brewing - wooden soul heliotropic Central waters - brewhouse coffee stout and rye barrel chocolate porter Prairie - Apple brandy barrel noir Some treats from Europe - Dark skull from electric nurse and another one I can't decipher. These all look awesome! I've been dying to try something from central waters and both sound great. The sours from Fair state and Indeed sound delicious, cant wait to get into them. Ah, so much good beer, dont know where to start! As @Elkevjoe said, you better watch your porch...
Also, forgot to mention that I'd come home from a pretty crappy day at work to find this ninja box, and it made my day, thanks again @jonbonfondle!
Ah, I said I'd never shipped to the person whose guess was closest. Semantic trickery! I saw you recently tried the AB Noir but decided to send anyway, as I thought this batch was kind of hot and could use some cellaring. The undecipherable beer is a golden strong from Iceland's Borg Brugghus. Pour that CW chocolate porter slowly, I've heard of some instances of a goobery chocolate thing at the bottom (the beer is perfectly fine, though!). Enjoy! Oh, and for those wondering...2,865 photos were taken on my trip.
...........Lurks in Great bunch of boxed guys. I love watching wrapped bottles get drunk. Kudos! Lurks back out..........
Wow, that's a killer box @jonbonfondle, making MN proud! Add a glass or t-shirt and that is a top notch BIF round box and all this was just for a LIF!?!? The Fair State and Indeed Wooden Soul's are probably MN's best sours right now - curious to see what you think!
Yeah, this is definitely not my standard level for LIF boxes, but @beluga92 had it coming. He sent me some HF as extras in a trade we did a while back, plus every BIF box he sends is pure gold, so I just took the opportunity to repay the generosity. I was tempted to throw in Limoo and Paradisiac as well, but I figured that would be pushing it (and my wallet). Agreed, Fair State is doing awesome stuff (that citra sour is so good), and I'm glad Indeed is finally bottling their Wooden Soul series.
This is Witch's Hat Rez Gets SMaSHed. All Simcoe Double IPA https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25963/185147/ Cheers!
Nice work. I don't think I could guess rye blindly, although i haven't tried. So which blind beer did it for you? I warned you that a drinking partner would be advised!
I sent one of my regular trade partners (in PA) on reddit a package a month back, and he told me he had a vacation planned in the near future and asked me to wait a little for his end of the deal, glad I did. He fucking killed it, wasn't expecting to see all of this! I'm just so damn giddy right now I figured I would share.
They were both solid, but I think Rez Gets Smashed was my favorite. This was my first blind tasting, and I really enjoyed it!
Got dat handshake from @beatjunkee tonight at Pizza Boy!! Great to meet you, Con! I hope you and your buddies have a great man trip camping weekend!
Just an FYI - my target has been selected and stalking has begun. Box will go out on the 22nd, in plenty of time to reach you before the anniversary. And you'll probably enjoy the spoils of my VT trip that weekend. Cheers!
@JoeyIce3 told me he accidentally left out some beers from my BIF box, and a second package jus showed up: Martin House Brewing Stars Above raspberry sour - love raspberry beers Martin House Brewing Hell Below strong dark ale Turns out you should mix these two, which is exactly what I'll do: Stars Above and Hell Below blend purgatory mix! Very cool. Also included - Saint Arnold Summer Pils - enjoyed their IPA and Community Texas Helles - a summer treat, helles yeah! Here is the first package again - couldn't take a unified family shot, because a bunch of these have been finished off over the last few days: Thanks again @JoeyIce3, second box was unnecessary, feel bad about additional shipping costs, combined you went excessive here man! Much appreciated!
Don't worry about it buddy, had to get those in there. I think the stars below is better than hell below but when mixed, purgatory stood out to me. Hope you enjoy. Cheers!
