Taking a quick break from set-up duties at our 50th annual Chicken BBQ. It is our park board's biggest fundraising event, and lasts all weekend. Had fireworks to ring it in last night. Now we have 720 chicken halves sitting over a bed of charcoal. I am functioning on 2 hours of sleep since Friday, but watching the sunrise is a nice benefit. So is this breakfast beer. Glad to see it in 6 packs now. Calm Before the Storm has nothing on this one. Here's to nap thirty this evening. Cheers!

Artwork: I'm not the biggest fan of DFH's artwork but this one is colorful and eye-catching and there is no denying that it looks kinda good.

Appearance: Dark amber, looks a bit like a Marzen. Decent head retention with some lacing.

Nose: Citrusy (mainly orange) and some hops. Surprisingly, there is some pineapple there too.

Taste: Sweet citrus and mild bitterness. In many ways, this tastes like an IPA-Sangria hybrid.

    Mouthfeel: Medium body.

Overall: A very nice IPA with a fruity kick.

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Planning on relaxing all day for the most part, other than doing a few errands. Should be a really nice day today. Beer this morning:

Excellent witbier as usual. Flavors of lemon, orange peel, pear, apple, banana, clove, coriander, wheat, bread, herbal/grassy spice, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish. Well balanced flavors of spices and yeast, with a nice sized bready wheat malt backbone. Very smooth and crisp finish; with moderate wheat creaminess in the mouthfeel. So delicious. This should be a year round beer, because I’d buy it.

Outstanding IPA as always. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with honey/biscuit/light caramel malt balance; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium pine/rind bitterness; balanced sticky/resins and light creaminess in the mouthfeel. Moderate dryness, highly drinkable, zero hop astringency. Classic Columbus/Cascade/Centennial hop profile. Never goes out of style for me.

2013 is tasting amazing! Unfortunately my last bottle. Huge flavors of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, and nutty malts; balanced by fruitiness of raisin, plum, fig, date, apple, and cherry. Light balancing herbal/earthy bitterness on the finish. Awesome creamy/silky mouthfeel and super smooth finish for 11.9%. Very minimal warming. There are still plenty of 2015 on the shelf all over the place, so I will have to grab some very soon. I prefer to have this beer at least 2 years old, from past experience; so they are already 1.5 years old on the shelf. Love this beer.

Mind blowing stuff! Not real head retention at all, dense motor oil pour, foamy tan cap drops nearly instantly. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, fudge, toffee, vanilla, molasses, cinnamon, clove, rum, oak, toasted coconut, chili pepper, and light dark fruit/char. Light-medium roast/char bitterness and rum/oak/pepper spiciness on the finish; full bodied creamy/silky/slick mouthfeel, with some sticky/chalky balancing roast/spice notes. Light lingering pepper heat. Warming finish, but not boozy for 14%. Dangerously smooth sipping. Glad I still have another left. This one has a bit more pepper presence than BA Bomb, but still insanely balanced. Need to get more regular Bomb soon.

It's still late night here, enjoying a japanese beer I picked up at a local grocery store. Nothing to write home about, but then again, I wasn't looking for anything special, just a lager I had never tried before, it fits that need.

Friday night, went to one of the newer local breweries, Beer Lab HI, to try a couple new beers. They never brew the same beer twice, always have something new. This one is their Abunai.P.A., a DIPA brewed with 5 different hops. Reminds me of the NWDIPAs I had, pretty good stuff.

This was their Mean Da Bean X, a Coffee Vanilla Porter, brewed with local coffee from Maui. Great coffee profile

    Morning BA's and happy Sunday.....

Whew, set a record for sailing outings this week - have been out 5 times this week and the day is still young! I can feel the summer fading, and want to enjoy it all while I can...took both the new Hobie cat and my Satori / Venture 17 out Saturday - great day for sailing!

Picked this new (to me) brew up while down in Columbus Friday - Captain Stardust - by Yellow Springs Brewing...yum!

Thanks! We are having a great time! We took off early and stopped at Dogfish Head brewery. The place was packed and everyone was having a great time, probably because they are much more generous with the free samples this year!

I see that you went to Union Craft, that is one of the breweries on my to do list. I hope you had a great time!

ps-The previous thread was closed (pretty late to post in yesterday's thread!) so I copied and pasted your post in this thread.

Had the same Japanese beer last night with sushi for the same exact reason, I never tried it before. Like you said nothing special but drinkable.
