Finback Brewery (2018)

Just got back from Finback. Got on line around 1:30pm which maybe was 80 people long and had my beer 30 min later. Looked like they had plenty of Oscillation 005 and Smooth Beats Miami, plus some Matter & Memory as well.

Enjoying my first Oscillation 005 which is far better than 003 that I last got from the series. Very smooth drinking, juicy without being overly sweet and no heavy malt taste.

 

Oscillation005 is cloudier, less gummy bear(ier), less malty sweetness, and has more bite on the finish which I like. Overall another killer version. Better than 004? Not so sure its better but different and delicious than the prior incarnation. If this had Other Half written on the can there would have been a line at 9am.

 

I finally made the trek out to Finback from uptown Manhattan and I'm glad I did.

Both beers tasted great at the brewery. I was blown away by the amount of fresh coconut taste in Smooth Beats. It's much better than I imagined. 005 is really nice and my favorite Oscillation to date.

 

I made the trip today from the Upper East Side, man what a trek, not sure ill be doing it again anytime soon. But I'm loving Smooth Beats Miami, such and awesome beer! I do love everything coconut though so my opinion may be skewed.

 

Is there any of either type of can left? No updates on social media as far as I can tell. Would love to pop by on Weds quickly for a couple 4 pks of each. I love Smooth Beats Miami.

 

Finback was great yesterday. Quite the journey from Manhattan but worth it. Great spot all around and superb beer

 

Drinking an Oscillation 005 now. Really nice stuff. Glad to see how much the series has improved over time. Definitely looking forward to future iterations.

 

Had a growler of Oscillation 005 tonight. It was my first in the Oscillation series, and it was really solid. This one seems to be showing up on draft around town more than the previous iterations, which is a welcome change for me given Finback's inconvenient locations. While I still can't see myself going to a release anytime soon, I will gladly pick up growlers whenever they're available.

 

Stopped in after work lastnight for some tasters and cans...was told by one of the guys that they have added some extra equipment in the basement to expand production and will be canning more and distributing more of those cans around the city in near future..lastnight they had 4 different cans for sale which was pretty awesome!

 

Huh, good to know, might have to swing by there later.

 

Distribution of more cans around the city would be a very welcome improvement - especially if they start to distribute the IPAs.

 

anybody know if theirs smooth beats left at brewery

 

SBM is such an interesting beer. i really didnt think i would like it, but the coconut comes off almost buttery in aroma. the cococut tatse hits you immediately and im sure it will be too much for some, but i kinda dig it.

they put up the cans on beer menus yesterday and they are still listed. not a first hand report, but thats usually a good sign

 

I was there last night to pick up some cans of smooth beats. Plenty left. Tasting delicious.

 

It may be a pain to get to if you don't live near that part of Brooklyn, but Oscillation is tasting real nice right now.

Call me crazy, but I get a Kool Aid flavor from it. Finback is killing it.

 

Just wanted to point out that Ridgewood is Queens not Brooklyn.

 

Sold out of smooth beats yet?

 

I'm sorry I don't have something more substantial, but as of Tuesday they were showing cans of both on BM.

 

I know some of the remaining cans have been sent out to distribution. Not sure how much they kept at the brewery.
