I agree it doesn't make any sense. I just refuse to believe that this many breweries aren't bringing their best stuff! haha

If you're going to GTMW just to wait in an hour long line for BCBS/DL/Abraxas, you're doing GTMW wrong. Way too much great stuff to enjoy throughout the day for that.

I agree, it might be worth it to target one big time tapping...but more than that is a waste of time.

That said, I think I got like 4 pours of Prop and Vanilla Rye last year because there was no line. Also, FFF popped BVDL randomly and it wasn't posted - there are always random hidden gems if you're in the right place at GTMW.

You can do it both ways (& as far as I know there's never been an hour-long line anywhere at the Great Taste!). We really wanted to have Morning Delight last year, so we stood around for about 20 minutes or so.

During this time we (a) didn't drink as much as if we'd been walking around, (b) wandered off & got random pours of places right around TG we may not have stopped at, (c) had a blast bullshitting with friends, (4) etc.

I know what you're getting at, but people enjoy stuff differently. If someone wants to go & stand in exactly 12 lines to get 12 gotta-have-em pours all day, well, if that makes them happy, more power to them! Plus, they're clogging up the rest of the grounds less.

Sometimes a 15/20 minute wait is needed at the GTMW, not all of us want to drink as much beer as possible in 5 hours.

Agreed, you make all valid points. Just saying there are so many other great offerings (not to mention great conversations with brew folk), that imo, its not worth going into a fest like this with the mentality of "I have to tick walez." Its such a great, low key event, that having a right place/right time mentality typically works out better. And yes, the past few years when they have had BA Abraxas, people start lining up 45 minutes to an hour prior to tapping.

    515 Mexican Spring????
Best beer they are bringing is Mediocré, hands down. I love 515, been with 'em since the beginning but they haven't really brewed anything since batch 1 Passé that has made me go "Oooh".

Looking forward to Martian Sunrise and Sugar Cereal Arms Race from Karben4 as I haven't had either of them. Blind Pig Wookie Snacks Black Rye IPA and a ton more.

For those of you not around central IL, don't sleep on Triptych. That Blueberry berliner weiss they're bringing is fantastic.

You could easily circle from Off Color to 2nd Shift to Perennial to Surly and be the happiest GTMW patron of the day

I'm trying to download the iphone app and not seeing it in the app store. Anyone else having similar issues?

I don't see it either, it was there yesterday but every time I opened the app there would be a new redundant entry for each brewery or beer.

    @GreatTasteMW tweeted:

" Hey folks...having some technical issues with the app that are being resolved. You all must have crashed it! "

I'm guessing they took it off the market until a fix is applied.

I saw the IOS app was fixed late Wednesday. So it should be available again.

I was hoping that Bells would carry Black Note today at Maduro's. Since that is not happening, any suggestion as to what event to attend today? I made my mind already of drinking Barrel Aged Stouts today
