My wants list is mostly the usual suspects (Hunahpu, Black Note, HF...) but I want to round it out with some of the more local, limited distribution brews. What are the beers that should be wants and why?

I am from Colorado and some of the ones that I have had that fly under the radar are:

Upslope cans, especially their pale lager, not often that you go out looking for a pale lager, but darn, that one is good.

Rocky Mountain Brewery (growler only) their fruit beers are top notch.

From my neck of the woods (well, even I can't get Hardywood) in Virginia you should want, Williamsburg AleWerks Bitter Valentine*, Bourbon Barrel Porter and Cafe Royale* and from Hardywood Park, Gingerbread Stout*.

    (*when in season)

The whole line of Coast from SC is worthwhile...especially if you can get it fresh....I don't think it's found outside of SC which makes it even more desirable once I'm out of town

Any hoppy limited releases from Half Acre (DDC, GDDC, Shewolf, etc)

The first thing I thought of was crooked stave but then I remembered I got those from you

    Cheers!

Completely agree with the Alewerks suggestions. Would add DC Brau On The Wings of Armageddon when they brew it again. Definitely a top-tier DIPA. Also had Blue Mountain's Dark Hollow, a Barrel Aged Imperial Stout for the first time the other day and really enjoyed it.

Shorts, Three floyds, Dark horse, any brewery that you can find that has beers that sound appealing to you, that you want to try. They don't all have to be whale trades, try a locals for locals trade with someone in a state that you are interested in trying something from.

Good call, I have heard of these, but have yet to try one.

Yeah, I thought about adding Crooked Stave but I think they are generally known around the forums.

Wait, I thought Portlandians don't trade

I don't have the firepower to bring down these cetaceous beasts.

Thats the second vote for bitter valentine, going on the list.
