Careful, not too much banter or this Visiting thread might not be up to snuff for the dedicated beer travel forum. Any helpful concise info in the first post is ruined by further semi on topic discussion...

That forum lasted only a day. Not one of Todd's better ideas. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't think the idea's gone for good, but taking the threads out of the regional forum defeats the original purpose of the threads.

I'm sure it's in this gem of a thread somewhere but I'm a dumb. What's the best way to get my beer back to me on a De Garde excursion? Is there a spot where I can pick up shippers in the 'Mook? I've got a buddy out that way so I could have some shippers shipped to his house before I get there, but that seems like a lot of work.

Also, is there any need to bribe @deGardebrewing with beers when I go? One of my other friends went to visit and apparently got a tour with the man himself. You got a wine and dine him or just show up with a sticker on the shirt that says, "My name is: mrpeterandthepuffers?"

you get a tour by waiting for the bathroom.

Have you tried politely asking him? I can't speak for Trevor of course, but my impression is that he's a pretty down to earth, modest, easy going guy who would likely be happy to show you around, if he's not busy or otherwise tied up when you come by.

Can't help you with your shipper problem. If you happened to be at dG when I was there, then I'd happily give some of mine. Good luck.

    Re: shippers

There's a uhaul store in Hillsboro that's not too far out of the way that carries styro shippers. It's on NE Cornell. They typically have 1,2,3,6,12pk options.

I may be a bit late to the party, but i'm also having an issue with the de Garde facebook. Can't comment on anything, can't see most new posts, etc. Very strange.

Is Zwanze at de Garde going to be cash only like the parties?

I feel like if it was going to be, it would've been mentioned in the original Zwanze announcement post with all the info. But perhaps @deGardebrewing could chime in to confirm?

Cash is recommended/preferred for expediency, but cards will be accepted as well.

This thread has been soooo helpful in the planning for my first PNW trip at the end of this month. Thanks again to @deGardebrewing for breaking this out from the 'Visiting Portland' thread for me as any mention of your brewery should be kept to this thread, and this thread only...

On a real note, I'm very excited to see this legendary place am completely comfortable with cashing in most of my beer capitol with my girlfriend by spending two days out there on the coast (at the brewery). However, if I was going to pick one non-de Garde activity to do/see out there, what would that be?

I'm an aviation nerd, and I suggest the museum at the Tillamook airport. It's in an old blimp hangar.

I just got back from a west coast trip that included De Garde with the wife and if you have a car I'd say take her to Pelican for dinner around sunset. It's a thirty minute drive and right on the water. The views are spectacular. It nearly made my wife forget the $500 I spent at De Garde.
