Was only pissed because we were literally the only people in line that got zero tickets. And we had to stand there and watch people jump (back?) into line and the owners grab extra tickets for Mug Club members (which is fine but hurts) knowing those were likely our tickets disappearing.

Again, not my idea of fun, but those two beers on draft were unbelievable.

Never waiting in line makes the smug club worth every penny.

I wish it wasn't so damn expensive.

How much is it, even though it's sold out.

$250 the first year, I believe something like $175 for renewal.

It's great. Can be in and out in 10 minutes.

Wow, any discounts? Worth it if you live or work near there and can take advantage of buying the new releases on Thursday and Saturday.

one day there's going to be one of those 2 per person releases with 250 growlers and all 100 members of the mug club are going to show up. then only 25 of the 100ish people who showed up will get tickets, and there'll be a fucking beer dork riot.

Pretty surprising something close to this hasn't happened yet - what's the point of paying all that money for the mug club if you don't consistently show up to all of the releases?

At $14 a Crowler, that's $56 for 4 crowlers so over $100 a week if you bought your allotment per week. I don't know about the rest of you, but that is way beyond my weekly beer budget.

We all live in one of the most wealthiest parts of the country. It may be expensive for us poor's, but $100 a week on just Aslin alone is nothing for a lot of people in this area.

Right, $100/week is definitely a lot. But mug club people have already spent $250, which is also a lot for an annual membership, largely for the ability to secure all releases in advance of general public sales. You'd think most mug club members would use that membership at a significant portion of releases, but who knows?

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that many people on BA probably spend $100/week on beer or more. Serious traders can often spend far more than that, and people are definitely trading Aslin crowlers.

Couple thoughts. I agree with Thomas that if you live nearby, why the hell would you not fork out the $250 (given you can afford it)? Procuring your beers in 10 minutes regardless of when you show up is amazing. Also, they get 20 oz pours of beer for the same price us "lesser" folk pay for 12 oz pours. Although, I heard multiple people complaining about the mugs yesterday, saying they strongly preferred the glasses (rich person problems). I do tend to agree that I like the experience of a glass more than a mug but whatever.

Anyways, I also concur with Berto. I definitely am shocked that that hasn't happened yet. It was my first time yesterday and I had discussions with the guy in front of me about that. That would be so sick if the amount of people who showed up to wait in line yesterday showed up on a day when all 100 Mugs also arrived. Having the potential to only sell 25 allotments to the public is cruel and unusual punishment.

I did get my crowlers yesterday and I absolutely loved the pineapple/orange/vanilla IPA. It was as good if not better than I was hoping. I loved the ticket system and I loved the way the line was formed. I'm not sure if they planned it this way but because of its location, it pretty much had to be single file and it was damn near impossible for anyone to cut in line. The release was as smooth as it could be. Well done, Aslin. Keep doing your thing.

there was a lovely fellow on Saturday who spent his whole time in line complaining about anyone who would even think they should cut allocations so more people can get beer, even posting on Aslin's facebook before they were open that they had better not cut allotments.

wouldn't want to screw up his pre-trade

I think $100/week would be very aggressive. Let just say you were just trying to maintain your stash that would be equal to say 2-$20 750 bottles and 5 $12 6 packs. I feel like I consume a good amount a beer on a weekly basis, but not that much.

Since they open up a little early for mug club members to get growlers, how does it work if you (mug club member) show up at/after the time they open to the general public? Do you just get in the back of the line and possibly miss out? Or are you guaranteed crowlers, assuming the last crowler hasn't been sold?

Good question... I want to know this answer as well.
My research shows that it's a sour saison.

Ocelot, Mad Fox, Lost Rhino, BadWolf, Adroit Theory, Corcoran, Crooked Run, Beltway, Fair Winds, Ornery. I've had beers from all of them that I've enjoyed as much if not more than the stuff I've had from Aslin. Like I said, it's just my opinion, and I'm not saying Aslin is bad. Just not up to the hype for me. YMMV

The mug club doesn't act as a reserve system. You aren't entitled to an allotment unless you show. Do they even do growlers anymore?

Time is money. Standing in line sucks. Why wait in line for an hour every release when you can pay a nominal cost up front and be in and out.

Likely the same poors that wait in line for a free donut or free slurpee.
