http://jesterkingbrewery.com/introducing-jester-king-cru-55 We’re pleased to introduce a very special, one-off beer from our barrel cellar called CRU 55. Back when we started our program of spontaneous fermentation in February of 2013, we had an extra 130 gallon puncheon barrel (#487 to be precise), which we filled with our RU55 Barrel Aged Sour Red Ale. After aging in our barrel room for three years, we decided to bottle and release it as the “Grand Cru” version of RU55. CRU 55 was packaged on May 9th, 2016 after a little over three years in the barrel. It will go on sale today (Friday, August 12th, 2016) when our tasting room opens at 4pm. The bottle limit is one per customer per day (375ml, $14). We have approximately 900 bottles available.
I want some of these very badly, unfortunately I'm out of town until Sunday and i doubt there will be any left. I live in Austin and would be willing to try to work out a trade for one if somebody has an extra. Cheers!
Planning to finally make it to my first release. Guessing I should plan to be standing in line for a while?
Not if you're coming today. Tomorrow, you probably want to come early (assuming it survives the night)
Thanks for the info! BTW - I think we met at a bottle share @ On Rotation a while back. Hope all is well. Cheers!
Jester King is pumping out a lot of stuff this summer. Should be interesting. Hope I can snag one but I won't be mad if I can't.
Just stopped by, grabbed 2 and left. No line, should be easy for those wondering. Normally would've stayed, but damn it's hot as eff out right now
Wife and I both scored a bottle with zero wait! Easily the smoothest bottle purchase I've ever made there, which is odd considering this is the only time I've ever gone for a release. Cheers!
The beer itself... wow... aroma is creamy rich cherry and oak, slightly phenolic, taste is tart Flanders with huge cream and oak on the back end. Linger is understated and soft. RU55 if it were doping in preparation for the olympics. Awesome.
We got there around 6:30 today. I believe we were told there were ~300 bottles left as we walked up. No one in front of us or behind us, so I was surprised 600 were gone that quickly. Hope you get your hands on some tomorrow!
Was there at around 5. No line, was awesome. Enjoyed many brews with friends. Also in my 60 seconds in I line, I saw them turn away two different people who were trying to get seconds. Also awesome...
