Good morning people! Got a 4 mile run in the books and now it's patio time. A flash flood advisory calling for 3-5 inches of rain prompted some early grilling of the Italian sausages before it hits. The task seems incomplete without a beer! Going to chill and enjoy a peaceful morning with the noisy bluejays and bullfrogs in the bog while I can. Have yourselves a great week.

Good morning everyone! I finally got one of those new fangled turbid IPA's. Thank you @butters_mcgee for giving me this beer from Upstate Brewing. I love the green color on the label. I also really liked this beer which in my opinion paired some unique flavors with citrus. Ready?

Pours the color of grapefruit juice with a only a chalky glow to it as hardly any light passes through. opaque. turbid. Thin fast falling white head. Pineapple, cool herbal and spice, nutty, twiggy, fruity , tropical and grapefruit pith. Sage and thyme. Bitter prickly floral, needle like pine. A light tingle from alcohol and hop bitter finishes the beer with those sultry twigs and grapefruit pith.

From reading that description which fits both the nose and the taste ( excellent) you might say what are those mellow earthy herbs doing with grapefruit? I like it and more than just a little. There is a light sweetness overall and one of the best malts ever. It had no real powerful statement to make except a hearty stature and a smooth bearing. It goes mostly unsung until you feel very satisfied by it in the mouthfeel. There is a nutty quality to this flavor that is not from malt but from one of the hops. I think it is either the azacca or the pekko. They are unique. Vibrant in an earthy way that's very different form your juicy citrusy oily hops. So nutty sweet pineapple with grapefruit sage and thyme. You must try it! Cheers!

It's Monday!

 

Had inventory at work, didn't get to bed until 5:30am and wanted coffee with a kick now that I'm awake. I'm digging where this is right now, still tons of fresh roast coffee flavor with toffee starting to pull in a bit...

 

In VA for vacation... Heading to ALEWERKS soon to hopefully snag a few bottles of Cafe' Royale.
