    Mod Edit:

A number of posts were moved here from the Cantillon thread to give this one some meat.

Give full credit to @beerpirates for starting this thread...

Unfortunately, when moving posts from one thread to another, the time stamp stays, so his post is now actually # 32 in the thread...

It's above somewhere in the thread but likely lost among all the other things. Lazenne.com supplies the shippers to Cantillon but only 3 bottle shippers. You can buy 12 bottle shippers from their website.

PRO TIP: You'll want to make sure you order the "large bottles" and not the "classic" size bottle shipper. I made that mistake and ordered a shipper to fit smaller wine bottles. Opps!

Thanks, from the look of it I can get three of the 3 bottle shippers and stack them in my shipper bag. I have the one shown on Lazenne.com. I might just do that instead of hauling a 12 bottle shipper from the US.

The other option (and what I'm doing in two weeks) is to order the 12-bottle shipper to be delivered to your hotel. Just folding up the wine check and bringing it in a checked bag on the way over.

Etre Gourmet has a shipping service. Just stop by their store with your bottles and they'll take care of the rest. They're about a 40-45 minute drive from Cantillon.

You are correct! You want the large bottles you can orer in groups of 3, 6, or 12. this can hold anything from 12 oz. bottles to NORMAL sized champagne bottles. they will work for multiple trips. I have never tried the extra large for the magnums... i guess i will have to now

As for the 12 bottle shipping case that Cantillon now sells (picture above in black). I have had this case since it first appeared on the market years ago as The Wine Check. It is absolutely amazing. i have taken it on 60+ trips from sweden to belgium to east coast US to west coast US and back again! Never had 1 bottle break! A few important bits of info for those...

    1. take empty boxes, fold them flat, bend a 90 degree crease in them and insert them between the travel case and the shipping container inside. this will reinforce the corners of the shipping container and extend its life.

    2. there are 2 empty slots inside along the middle. you can fit a 12 oz. bottle or a Cantillon 375ml horizontally in each. the fit will be tight and MAY damage just a little styrofoam (especiall with the 375ml bottles)... Voila! a 14 bottle shipper :grinning:

CAUTION: be sure to pad the bottle necks around these 13th and 14th small format bottles to truly protect everything!!!

    3. If you pack smaller bottles in it. try to pack them in with paper or socks so they arent loose. This will extend the life of the styrofoam container

    4. if you live in the US you can order new box plus styrofoam contain from UHaul... https://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Boxes/Kitchen-moving-boxes/Wine-Shipping-Kits?mid=169. depending on what i carry in them, i can get upwards of 10 trips before i start getting small styrofoam pellets everywhere.

    5. you can put 26 cans of beer in them.

Great post. I just now checked in a wine check bag to take back home and I was able to fit 12 full size bottles plus (4) 16oz cans in the 4 spots just inside the outside rows of bottles (I'll try to post a photo later when it arrives). I just had to cut out a little styro from the top price for each location. I've used the same styro insert for about 30 trips with zero issues.

The bag weighed in at 52lbs and I got lucky that they didn't make a big deal about being over the 50lb weight limit. If it does become an issue I know I could've removed 2 cans to get it down to 50lbs since one can weighs one pound.

Here is a cost/weight/space effective way of packing as well. I just reuse a 12 X 750ml boxes and put these inside my suitcases. With an extra cardboard shell around the box. Do the trip from the States to Brussels 3-4 times a year without incident with this method.
    I heart double-ply cardboard. :-)

Does anyone know if this includes the box and styro insert or is it just the carrier? 100€ is kinda steep for just the carrier, but if it comes with the box and styro, I might be interested.

I'm going to be honest, I'm being lazy and haven't read through all the pages of posts, but I read somewhere that Cantillon sells bottle boxes to package bottles which would be convenient to take back on the return trip home to the US. Is this still the case? Just want to bring as much home for friends as possible without stressing over finding a bottle shipper while im in Paris.

Cantillon sells 12 bottle "wine shippers" from Lazenne, but with their own logo printed, for about 100€.

Why are they so expensive? I know people might be desperate so they can upcharge but I just bought some 12 bottle styro shippers for $12 here in the states. I was considering buying a shipper over there so I don't have to check it on the way over/lug it around Europe but if they cost that much everywhere in Europe I definitely need to consider other options.

It's not only the styro itself, it's an entire "suitcase", trolley style, with a 12 bottle styro inside.

    http://lazenne.com/products/the-wine-check

If you just want something to keep the bottles protected, while checked in your luggage, you'll get a box with every 6-pack of large bottles (or 12 small?) which works perfectly.
