Love the generosity around here, glad you got the ball rolling @sembo.

It's my understanding that the traditional 1 year anniversary gift is paper. In honor of the upcoming newbie 1 year, I'm sending our a few boxes that contain paper...wrapped around beers. If I have your address you could be in for some blind tastings.

Also, I was lucky enough to enjoy some awesome beers this weekend at FOFA. To spread some of the hill farmstead love around, I'll follow @sembo's lead and pick someone who likes this post at random to send a hill farmstead box. Watch out though, these will also be blind tastings. Might not be able to ship until next week, but I'll be shutting down the LIF in 18 hours so I can try to ship out this Wednesday.

    Great idea @sembo

Let's keep it going. Like this post and I will pick someone at random to receive a box of beer from #Funkytown. I'll keep it open until Saturday and ship early next week.

BIP pass for myself, and GA for my friends. See you there for sure!

I'll also be at Alchemist on Friday - shooting for 10:30 arrival. Still not sure if I can convince the girlfriend that HF is necessary, but assuming we make it there too, it'll be around 1pm.

Finally getting around to trying my first mystery beer from @Doogflaggat.

Corked and caged mixed with the bottle color immediately led me to believe a sour. Upon first pour, my suspicions were confirmed. First taste I was hit with apricots, lots of carbonation and face puckering tartness. I usually don't follow this style too much since it's not my favorite (but I am slowly growing a liking to them), so I had no clue as to what it could be.

Slowly removing the promised yellow tape from the bottom revealed it was indeed apricots. Full reveal:

Batch 2 if it matters. Surprised I didn't pick up on the peaches since I'm not a fan, but this is currently hitting the spot after a long, hot day at work.

Quick question that hopefully someone can answer, maybe @OEB since you have been on a recent trip. Any tips for flying with bottles/cans in checked luggage, aside from normal shipping standards?

I will be heading out for Colorado in couple days and plan on bringing some WI goodies for IP trades, and bringing a decent stash back as well. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what to nab (aside from Casey, Crooked Stave, and Odd13) or would like anything, let me know.

made a couple of trips doing this. i ziplocked, then bubble wrapped, then plastic wrapped each bottle / can. if nothing can "clink", you're good to go.

I brought a couple of 55 gallon bags (1 for each suitcase) to put everything inside of so that even if something popped, it wouldn't soak through. if something is leaking out, you're going to be in trouble.

check the weight / bag limits of your air line. southwest allows 2 bags of 50 pounds each to fly for free.

one of these is your friend:

https://www.amazon.com/Luggage-Temp...4&sr=1-2&nodeID=9479199011&keywords=bag+scale there are lots of makes and models

co-worker of mine flew recently and didn't have one, could have packed a lot more.. it amazing how heavy 50lbs is

We are flying Southwest, double checked their baggage policy before I posted, I was happy to learn they have 2 free bags per person  Already have a digital bag scale as well. So basically, just adhere to normal shipping protocols.

@azuelke If you are packing enough clothes, you can omit bubble wrap and use your clothes to wrap the beers. Ziplock bags are still a good idea, at least if you like your clothes. I've never had a bottle or can leak in my suitcase and I've gone this route a few times, usually I only take 6 to 8 22oz bottles though.

Wine Skins are great, but watch the weight limit of your bag.

You can also check a styro-shipper as an extra bag or ship it ahead of your trip to yourself then ship it back home.
