Why do some beers taste better at different restaurants?

I've started to notice that whenever I get Guinness, my favorite beer, at Buffalo Wild Wings in my town it taste so much more creamy, thick, and flavorful than if I get it anywhere else. Is this a fairly common thing that happens? And why does it happen?

    Better nitro system maybe?

My Guinness drinking friends tell me it's all in the pour so perhaps the staff there is better trained.

I think Guinness makes a special version of the beer for that particular Buffalo Wild Wings.

There could be several contributing factors - freshness, strength of the nitrogen, cleanliness of taplines, properness of pour, cleanliness of glassware, or, last but not least, maybe it's your imagination.

Hahah, it could be! But I had Guinness back to back days and the one at my Bdubs tasted a lot better. They could possibly have the nitrogen system but I've never bothered to find out lol.

I always think beer tastes better when someone else serves it to me. Same with food and coffee.

I think Guinness is the most inconsistent beer. I'm sure it leaves the brewery all the same, but a lot of the enjoyment from Guinness comes from proper gas levels, proper pour, and freshness.

You are on to something. Anticipation is a huge (yuge) piece of pleasure, so I'd bet you were looking forward to that particular brew, and it delivered? In the wine business there was always the phenomenon named "The Vineyard Effect", which with travel and anticipation, that first glass at the winery, and being treated well by the staff, with food, tastes just perfect. Upon return to home and the familiar, that same wine may be good, but is less than perfect.

Anticipation definitely plays a part. Another factor is having a drink (or meal) presented to you already prepared. If I'm pulling a beer out if the fridge, I open it, pour, sniff and taste, and usually let it sit for a couple minutes to warm. But by the time I'm ready to drink, I've already tasted it and smelled it a few times, so you become somewhat desensitized to it. Same when you're cooking a meal. The constant tastes and smells during preparation dull the senses compared to just being served a plate or glass when your nose and palate come to the experience fresh.

I'd guess line cleanliness and/or relative freshness. BWW locations go through a ton of beer. It's more than possible that Guinness you have there is more fresh than at other locations.
