Hobo life is definitely one of the better sessions I've had. Still waiting to try consolation prize though

I had Hobo Life on tap and agree with others that it's one of the best sessions I've had. Too bad all the LH cans I ever see in stores are at least 2 months old. Not buying BS again and will try CP.

This. I was going to grab Hobo Life last week at Fort Point Mkt but it was about a month and a half old. I'll pass until I can get it on draft or more recent batch.

A month and a half is not that old. If you drink beer from the west coast, it's probably older.

True, but part of the calculation of buying uber-local is to get fresher beer than you can get from Oregon.

Most of the Boom Sauce that I've seen at local liquor stores is very old for local beer and frankly dated for any beer (nearly three months in many cases if dated at all). Funny enough, Fort Point Market actually called out Lord Hobo on Twitter at one point -- if I remember correctly -- because a distributor delivered them beer that was already dated. LHBC responded that they'd make it right.

Sucks that this keeps happened. It's definitely turned me off to buying the product, especially when there's other local options that are 1) fresher, 2) as good or better in quality and 3) for an equal or lesser price point.

Sorry to sound like a Trillium fan boy, but well I'm a Trillium fan boy. They meet 1 & 2 and are pretty close on #3. (Do I really care about saving a couple bucks when it's between days or weeks old vs months old beer AND better quality IMO?)

Only other factor is opportunity cost for traveling 40 mins to the brewery which I'm willing to sacrifice.

Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada fit all three as well. In ct we could also throw in sea hag.

I work in a liquor store. Hobo usually comes within a month of being packaged, and for my store, moves pretty quick. The only stuff we get that is fresher is beer that is self distributed; Mayflower and Nightshift. I wish more people bought Mayflower.

Agreed. Better beers without all the hype as the ones in this thread.

I think Nightshift grabbed the 16 oz canned IPA niche LH was hoping to fill, at least in Metro Boston. Castle Island is making a go of it as well. Jack's Abby too if they can get Excess to be a bit more available.

And yeah, Mayflower makes great stuff, though admittedly I mostly buy their darker offerings. Evolupulin seems to be a solid attempt to get on the trend train but I'm not sure they chose the right price point for it.

For me, Night Shift, with the Santilli or 87, morph as well. Jacks Abby excess and Wormtown Be Hoppy. All see regular rotation in my fridge.

Per a posting on the LHBC facebook page, some changes are coming to the brewery: tap room, beer hall, restaurant, more beers, etc... "later this year."

UPDATE… We’ve received site approval for a pouring license from Woburn. There are still some procedural steps that will take a few months, but at some point later this year, we will have a pouring license. The plan is to close down the retail room for a few months, install a 10 BBL Pilot system, install a kitchen, build a 200 seat beer hall, and build out a full bar. As you know, our background is building beer enthused restaurant spaces, so we are eager to build out a beer hall that will make us proud. The Pilot system will allow us to expand offerings beyond our core beers, which will be available for onsite consumption, and for growler fills to go. That system will also allow us to make more predictably scale-able recipes for our 40 BBL System. We are super stoked for this. We’ll keep you posted. As always, thank you for your support. Cheers!
