A fresh thread for some of the news coming out of the Fourth Corner:

Menace Brewing is coming along nicely with their move into the Meridian St. location. The owner, Ben, says they will be open in October. Not sure when, maybe the first, maybe the thirty-first, but they're holding themselves to an October opening. They'll have room for more fermentors, but no real plans to distribute beyond the taproom at the brewery, and at The Local.

As mentioned in another thread, Gruff is finally open, they had a good sized crowd when I was in last night. Beers are generally solid and enjoyable.

Kulshan and Wander collaborated on a beer for BBW, a Raspberry lager, that is very easy drinking, and perfect for this current hot spell. 3.5% ABV, good grainy malt backbone, and just the right balance of sweet and tart. A pint disappears quickly. There are a limited number of six packs available for $10. Available at the breweries, and perhaps a few local stores.

The store Greene's Corner is moving from the far north end of Bellingham, to a location on James Street, a short block from the original Kulshan location. Looking forward to another convenient bottle shop in town, and I've heard great things about their pizza. And, Bellingham needs more good pizza.

Boundary Bay will be having their 21st Birthday party on Friday, Sept 16th. That's the Friday of BBW. If last years 20th party is an indicator, it should be a must-hit party.

The status of Subdued Brewing is static right now. They're ready to go, but are in stalled negotiations with the building owner. The building needs a lot of work, so who knows when, or even if, this will get resolved.

Atwood Ales from Blaine is starting to show up in stores a bit more regularly now.

Wander now has a couple Foeders, with beer in them. We should see the first beers from them in the next few weeks.

Finally, the North Fork continues with their sour program. Seems like new things coming out almost weekly. A few things are in bottles. I believe there are still a few bottles of the most recent batch of Electric Berryland still available.

Chilling at home watching the fights this evening ... and God damn if a few glugs of Raspberry Lager into the remaining half glass of Bell's Expedition Stout I'm drinking isn't a brilliant addition. They're both terrific beers on their own, and wonderful together. Damn, so good.

Sounds great to me. I've been meaning to try that with Raspberry Millie and a big stout.

Hmmm. Might have to try that too. Speaking of Millie, yesterday I saw the Blackberry Currant version of Millie. First time I've seen the "smaller" bottles from Wander at Huckleberries.

Dammiit, I'm losing all my Iron Goat leverage.

I wouldn't say that. In fact, your most recent Ale Trail review would suggest you still have plenty of leverage.

Draft only, no growlers. I did snag a couple more bottles of Berryland though.

Did you see Blackberry or Black Currant? The Blackberry is new, the currant has been gone from the brewery for a bit.

It was definitely Black Currant. As I was on a mission that didn't involve them, I didn't study the label to see if it included a date. How old might we be talking?

2-3 months maybe. I don't think time particularly hurts those beers, probably doesn't help them, but I'd have no issue with a 6 month old one.

So Aslan is entering the Portland market. What are their best beers?

I like Illmatic and Disco Lemonade. FIFA isn't bad. Kinda indifferent to their canned beers.

Silver City has both their Oktoberfest and a new helles lager "Sesh Appeal" out right now. Also, they have a blackberry sour "Wily Temptress" and a scotch ale aged in scotch barrels (hinted from an email being Macallan) "The Big Magnificent Bastard" coming out soon. The sour is coming out September 1st and the scotch ale is coming out September 8th.

I'm a big fan of Silver City, but this is a strong candidate for worst beer name ever. Right up there with anything with "dank" in the title.

South Nut is open! They're open today, but I didn't see hours posted in the FB post I just saw.

"South Nut"? Isn't that a function of which way you're standing?

I'd just like to say that Skookum is killing it lately. Billowing Waves and Image of Objects are phenomenal IPAs.

    That is all.
