I would expect it to be outdoors in the big parking lot they have, but who knows. If the ground is asphalt and not mud, and the weather is 70+ and not 50, you are already ahead of DLD in terms of comfort in the rain.

FWIW, HA responded to someone on Facebook asking about the weather, stating the event was already planned to take place both indoors and out.

Hopefully they have some tents up to provide some relief from the rain, if it comes. Although, the hourly forecast I see now only calls for 10-35% chance of rain during the party.

I guess I'll need to bring some kind of light rain gear just in case...

Anyone know if there will be any guest taps at all tomorrow? Not that the announced beers don't look phenomenal or anything but just wondering if anyone knows if they have any surprises up their sleeves.

I heard from Half Acre staff that there would be no guest taps, only HA beer.

Someone want to give those who didn't attend a review of the event? What made it awesome?

As you entered, you were greeted with a can of HA beer. After that you checked in, while here you got a wristband, glass and a koozie. Then you entered the event. It was half indoor, half outdoor.

Indoor, there were 3 beer stations and each poured 4 diff beers. Once a keg kicked, it'd be replaced with a new beer. This event was literally ALL YOU COULD DRINK. There was no limit to the number of pours and unless you asked otherwise they would fill you to the brim. Inside there was also a designated tour area where you could line up and an employee would come around every few mins to take a small group on a tour of the balmoral facility. I can't stress how much larger this joint is compared to Lincoln Ave. There was also a merch area that had glasses, various swag and they even printed shirts right on the spot. They even had an area where could could throw this tomahawk/hatchet type thing at a wooden target although the line for this was rather long.

The outside area had 3 more pouring stations, a stage and a food area. A check in you received a meal ticket you could redeem at the food area for a plate that consisted of tacos and a Mexican bean salad of some sort.

Many of the beers there were one offs, new sours and a few barrel aged offerings and obviously all of the HA staples as well. Many of the new brews were absolutely killer and it gave a good show case of what HA will be producing in the future with all of the new space and additional brewing capacity.

In all just a very chill vibe that was very well put together, but we all already knew HA knows how to through a party.

    Cheers!

Damn, I managed to miss the sour agave Daisy Cutter. I wanted it, but just didn't end up catching it. I was in that room a couple times (tried the Orin with maple syrup), but didn't recall seeing that DC version on tap when I was in there. We did spend most of our time outside, though.

I loved the regular BA Benthic, and thought the version with coconut and coffee was killer. I could do without the paprika version...which they waited forever to actually tap. I also liked a couple of the Vigodas, but can't remember which version I liked best.

I had a great time and did the first tour they offered, and thought that was enjoyable, even though it was hard to hear the guide sometimes because of the music. All in all, a great time and I'm in pain today (going to Local Option for a few beers afterwards was extremely unnecessary).

Nice! Thanks for the write ups. Looks like we have another must attend fest in town. Now if Pipeworks wanted to get a fan friendly facility to do events.... Look forward to hopefully getting to try some of these new things at Fobab or hopefully they'll sneak the one offs on draft randomly at the new brewpub....

I am not the biggest beer festival guy but I would say this was the best beer fest I have ever been to. This was super organized and you pretty much got to try everything. Their taster glasses were huge and I had to ask for a half pour pretty much any time I got a new beer to drink haha but other than that it was great. The one complaint I would have would be with the food. They only had 2 types of tacos and they ran out of chicken midway through the thing. I don't eat pork so I just waited until I left to eat. Other than that, it was awesome.

Lines for all the beers were really quick and I don't think a single beer kicked before people had a long opportunity to give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of Half Acre's saisons and brett beers, really tasty.

The food was tasty, they had an ax throwing station, Twin Peaks was awesome and it was just really well run. It rained for like ~20 minutes but the indoor space was big enough to handle most of the crowd and we got lucky enough to camp out under a truck.

Beer standouts for me: Mythic, Benthic, Vanilla Big Hugs, Vigoa w/ Brett

Looks like Lead Feather is back on 9/1, and GoneAway shouldn't be far behind.

Does anybody know how often Navaja is released? It seems like its a bi-weekly thing but I can't tell for sure.

They confirmed GoneAway is back on 9/1 as well. Too bad I'll be in the city on 8/31. Don't think it will be in the 'burbs before I leave town on Friday. Would have loved some for my golf outing/fantasy draft this weekend.
