Going to be in Seattle next week and going to the Seahawks game Thursday night. Any worthwhile breweries in the area (i.e. walking distance) I should be checking out?

Really excited to check out Holy Mountain and Fremont.

Seapine is easily within walking distance of the stadium. They have great beer and an awesome atmosphere.

"Easily" is relative. It's 1.5 miles between Seapine and CenturyLink Field.

Cool; 1.5 miles is definitely doable, especially since i should have some time to kill before the game. Thanks.

On your second day you mention going to Chuck's and possibly a good bottle shop. If you make it to Chuck's you'll already be in one of the best bottle shops in the city. No need to go anywhere else

When you hit Yakima you will definitely see plenty of hops. This time of year every minute or two you'll see trucks loaded down with hops rumbling past when you're out in the Bale Breaker area. For a hop lover, it's very memorable experience!

If you plan to eat during or about the time of your Dru Bru visit, definitely pick up some food from Aardvark Express across the street, and bring it in to Dru Bru, as many do. It's on the very top of the pass in a gas station parking lot, but it's one of the best food trucks I've visited in the last two years here. Dan runs this one-man show. He's a character, and throws crazy flavors together that, somehow, don't just 'work,' but amalgamate to some incredible dishes. (He used a full can of PBR to help make the batter for my pancakes the last time I was up there.) The menu is here, though may not be current. More info is on the Facebook page, and calling in orders first are welcome.

Awesome! I didn't know there was a second Chucks. That'll be a lot easier to hit up.

And maybe I'll do Urban Fam instead of Fremont.

I'll be in town Sept. 15-19. You can message me and I try to find free time to meet up.

    Thanks for the support!

Love the piroshkys. Worth braving the crowds at the market IMHO.

The freakin best time of the year, only to be surpassed two weeks later when the fresh hop offerings start showing up.

Will be at the shows too! Heads up there's construction on i90 east of the pass which apparently may long weekend led to some long delays. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time if you're coming in Friday afternoon. I'll be rolling into the gorge thurs

This thread has been filled with so many wonderful and helpful suggestions for upcoming visitors of late that even I, a resident of Seattle for the past decade, have gotten a couple new ideas for things to do and places to try. Nice work, Northwest Forum.

In the end, it's lovely to see that we all know how good we've got it--in terms of beer, food, agriculture, recreation, and all the rest--and yet so freely and enthusiastically share our knowledge with others entreating us for our advice. As long as everyone who comes here for a stay and basks in our bounty then immediately "forgets" what they saw and tasted when they leave, this will all end well...(I hope)...

Does anybody have any suggestions for a spot that sells shippers? Ideally looking for one 12 bottle. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've been up to Seattle a few times this year, and I have to say Old Stove Brewing was the biggest surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much due to the location at The Market, but their hoppy offerings blew me away. The ambiance isn't that great, since it's in the bustling area of the market but their beers are very good. We also went to Cloudburst that day and besides Thunder Muscle, I enjoyed the hoppy offerings at Old Stove over those at Cloudburst.

So, if you are visiting and in that area, don't sleep on this brewery.

I also have to say I was a bit disappointed by Floating Bridge Brewing in the U District. Very safe styles and all were average to below average. I'd give them another shot next time I visit, as I know they are new, but was unimpressed.

I get the impression that Floating Bridge is starting small and playing it safe with styles that your average person off the street might want to drink. I do hope they improve, though. Same with Ravena Brewing. We need more good beer in North Seattle that's not in Ballard.

Just got back from my trip to Seattle.

Only got to hit up Fremont and Holy Mountain while there. I did try to make it to Reuben's Brews but was with non-beer drinkers and on our walk there we got sidetracked and never ended up making it there. Also never made it to Seapine prior to the football game as I found myself on the opposite direction of Seapine relative to Century Link. I didn't end up drinking that day, anyways, so it didn't really matter in the end I suppose.

With that said, I loved Holy Mountain. Went there on my second day of my 6 day trip and Holy Mountain beers were all I ended up drinking the rest of my time there. I love saisons, I am a big fan of hoppy beers, so I was very happy. While they were incredibly limited in the variety of styles offered, they offered an incredible variety within the limited styles being offered. Being a big fan of those styles, I couldn't get enough. They are easily one of the best breweries I have tried. More time/experiences with them and they would easily have become a Top 3 favorite brewery of mine I am positive. Fremont was solid but quickly became an afterthought after discovering Holy Mountain.

hi all - great thread, appreciate the info. looking forward to a short trip this weekend.

Will be at convention center with client this weekend. Nearby, good dinner place for food and great beer for a group of 6? I see Yard House and Tap House, anything else walkable?

    thanks!

Beer isn't even an issue. Decide what food ya want, pretty much all restaurants will have good beer. Pine Box, as mentioned, or a few blocks south Collins Pub.
